Hi there,

My son got a Nintendo Switch recently and has been happily playing Splatoon 2 over my or my wife's mobile phone hotspots without issue (we have the same mobile phone company). Today he can't get into an online game (although the internet is working and he can buy guns in the shops in the lobby.

He's getting a Error 2618 0513 NAT traversal process has failed. An internet check shows him NAT B with a download speed of 18G. I understand NAT B to be sufficient and the download speed fine.

Fiddling around for a while I did manage to join the queue for a game but got kicked out for this problem before game commenced.

Anyone an ideas whatsup??

Cheers in advance

Hi Woomy, thanks for getting back

I'm in Ireland, Vodafone is the "cell" operator.

I've got good coverage and Vodafone would have the best network. Like I say, have had the young fella happily Splatooning away on either mine or my wifes without issue.

Any ideas?

Mine works via mobile Hotspot. As far as ideas go, does the Switch show signal strength bars confirming your connection? Or looking in switch internet settings to see if it shows your hotspot, for the sake of checking everything.

And obviously, a better test for your issue would be someone in your region, and same cell provider to try.

Good connection alright, plenty of bars. And showing the hotspot connected alright.

I was reading around in the interim and it can be that the provider blocks gaming but I wouldn't have thought this a likely problem.

Thanks for the attempt to help and for checking things out your end in any case

Thought that would be it as they were asking all the right questions until I drew a blank. Seems as if it's mobile operator issue but will check on a router based network to double check

Thanks again for the input, even if it didn't produce output
