Hi, sorry if asked before but over the past couple of days I have been noticing a burn smell coming from my Switch. I have had my Switch for probably a couple of months now (and loving it) but I am just noticing this. I did a Google search and maybe its normal? Has anybody else had this issue?

Hot electronics tend to produce a hot electronics smell, so it's probably fine, if moderately toxic like most electronic emissions. Unless it smells significantly like ozone (like a copier) in which case there could be electronic burning going on.

@ThanosReXXX Next time you mock me for crawling on the ground putting my ear to hard drives, remember this!

@zosobob6 I don't think the system could produce enough heat to ignite itself, even with a defect heat sink. You should've gotten temperature warnings on your Switch long before that. The ''most likely'' cause of burning would be the battery. I've never smelled a leaking Li-ion battery, but I doubt it smells like regular fire, and the system would look swollen. I don't think it's anything to worry about!

I loved that smell when I was younger. It was good excuse to hang around the photocopier at school.

@Octane Tell that to a Note 7

"Loved that smell"
LOL....somehow ozone smells much better from a copier than burning electronics though. I've smelled it a few too many times from the latter and too few from the former.

@ThanosReXXX I may listen to the whispers of my hardware, but only the truly hardcore inhale.

@Octane @NEStalgia The best smell is fresh fiberglass resin.

@zosobob6 My Switch had a scent for a little while, I think it was the plastics setting after getting hot for the first few weeks. But it passed and I haven't noticed any scent in months. (Had my Switch since launch)

Ironically I was playing World of FF handheld briefly yesterday and caught a whiff of that plastics/fiberglass/whatever scent from it. It wasn't even particularly warm on the outside, though WoFF does something ugly to the CPU since the whole UI lags while it's running in the background in a way no other game does.

@Yosheel Heeeeeyyy, maaaaaaannn....it's just some harmless Nintendooooo magic, maaann.....quit harshing our mellow duuuuuddde....
