Topic: Smash Bros - controller clash?

Will we be able to use a combo of controllers e.g 2 wired GCN and 2 joy cons or pro controller?

Dusting off my old GCN bits but don’t wanna buy 2 more controllers for one game?

It should work like 4 with any combination of controllers

you still would change the grip order in the Switch Controller settings so Smash wouldn't change those settings so you should be fine

Thanks for that! I don’t mind £20 for the adaptor but all these new controllers... £££ I’ve got a pair of joycon, a pro and a GCN we’ll middle thru! Can’t wait!! @ValhallaOutcast

You should be able to use any combination of controllers.

In the Wii U version, we once used a combination of the Gamepad, 3DS, Wii Remotes (and/or nunchuks), and Pro Controllers.

Smash Ultimate should be no different.

@Simonmoskovits ya if you have GC controllers already the adapter is the best solution, I purchased the hori game cube because it plugs direct to the switch and was cheaper then buying the adaptor plus a standard gc controller

I actually never played smash before or a GameCube for that matter but purchased the hori controller to see what it be like for Smash ultimate

Obviously the gsme is not out yet but testing on brawl out I am 100 times better with the Hori vs the Pro or joy cons so I can see why people love the GC controller for games like Smash

There are suddenly so many alternatives available! The HORI controllers look good - GameCube shapes but with all Switch buttons but no vibrate... can’t imagine playing without! Gonna put a shout out (BEG) on Facebook... think I’ll keep my GCN controllers (hope they work) and a 4th player can have the Switch joycon mount lol thanks for ur advice tho!!!
