Topic: Should I sell my Switch for N3DS?

Hi. That title might seem ridiculous but let me explain. I never really had my own cos ile, just played some ps4 that my brother used to have. I’ve been saving money for Switch since it came out, I was so hyped, but I am not an adult so earning money was so long, not so long ago I kind of lost hope that I will ever get to have it and kind of looked for some alternative. I got really interested in N3DS stuff, maybe there’s not that much games that I adore, but the system man! It’s so great! It might seem weird, but how it got me was ... graphics. Of course it’s bad, but it’s just like magicly beautiful for me! It gives it this really cool retro feeling! And then ... My parents were like - Lol let’s just give him how much money he needs for this Switch thing - And without thinking - I bought it (unfortunnetly with Smash cause there was no Zelda in the shop). And ... I got bored. I don’t enjoy it us much, now I just look at Fallout Shelter from time to time on it and that’s it, it just feels ... Less Nintendo? Like ... It tries to be more open to casual gamers, I thought it’s gonna have more of this nostalgic feeling, when I pickpocketed my brothers gameboy advance sp when I was 4 and playing on it all day! Now I am just thinking about just getting Zelda, beating it, and selling it for N3DS. Is it worth it after all? What do you think? Sorry for my English.

I personally love the Switch, Get more games and trust me you will not regret it. I currently have about 11 games and considering the number of games coming out the next half of the year then switch will be the best to have plus if you really...really want to get the 3DS then you can get it very cheaply online, just check on eBay or Amazon. So give your self time and you can own both no need to get rid of Switch.

@Osk6r
Why don't you keep your Switch ? 😉
How about.... Have BOTH Switch and 3DS ? 😁
Two is better than one. 😘
And about your gaming preferences, try to expand your gaming genre.
I play the mixtures of some games from Nintendo such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, LABO, etc and some smaller games such as Penguin Wars, Portal Knights, Yonder the Cloud Catcher Chronicles, etc.
Don't be a typical mainstream / dudebro gamer who just only want to play soccer / NBA / Madden games and never want to try other games.
I'm a 34 years old man but really hyped for girlie, cute, kiddie games on Nintendo Switch.

It's a good idea to keep a Switch. There's a LOT of excellent games on it, it's a whole lot more than just Zelda lol

You can still get a second-hand 3DS for a good price on kijiji or similar sites, if you feel you really need one

I have ultimately regretted selling every console I have ever sold and I never do it anymore. You sell a console to get another, and you are happy in the moment, then 6 months, a year later, you want to go back and play a game on that console and you can't. Or see a game on that console you want to play, and you can't.

If you really want a 3DS, just wait and buy it on its own. Don't sell your Switch to get it.

Sell it. If you’re into the retro aesthetic, Switch has nothing for you. It’s all bleeding edge, hyper realism, 1080 blah, blah, blah. If you wanna really feel like you’re gaming in the past, you NEED 3D games on 3DS.

Sounds like you're more into older games. Sell it and go for the N3DS.

If you take a close look at the game libraries of each system, you may find that the style of games that you like are actually available on Switch. They may just be tougher to find. You mention the GBA, so I assume you are familiar with older 2D games. You can find games like Shovel Knight, old arcade shooters, retro collections and others on Switch. Some games are available on both Switch and 3DS. You may not have to change systems. If the 3DS is more appealing, and if it has many more games you like that are easy to get, then trading may be a good idea. Keep in mind that the 3DS is near the end of its lifespan and won't be getting many new games for much longer compared to the Switch. As I said, take a look at the libraries of the systems to some degree. Perhaps you will find the Switch to be a better fit for you after all.

If you're low on cash, the 3DS is a great option. So many awesome games you can get at a low price. I still have like 10 3DS games on my shelf I've yet to play. It has a massive and awesome library.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

Maybe before selling, you should look deeply at the Switch game catalogue and see if there are games that interest you. You seem to be into retro aesthetics - you have Sonic Mania, the Sega Ages games, the Contra and Castlevania collections, to mention a few.

If even after looking at the catalogue nothing interests you, check the 3DS catalogue and do the same exercise. Maybe you’ll be surprised and there’s nothing on the 3DS that catches your attention.

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

Now playing: Okami HD, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

I would reccomend looking at both system’s libraries to figure out what the beat decision is for you. For all you know, you’ll pull the trigger and sell your Switch at a lower price than what you got it for, get your brand new 3DS, and discover that you aren’t really even interested in the games it offers really, and you’ll be right back in the same spot you were in before.

The decision ultimately comes down more so to what you like though, both systems offer a good variety of games that can appeal to what you may want, but if aesthetic/graphics is all you care about, then make your decision partially based on that.

pretty much every popular indie game is in a retro style nowadays. celeste, momodora, the messenger, and more are all 8/16/whatever-bit style. give some indies a try!

I bought my 3DS after getting a Switch, so I kind of see where you are coming from. I love the Switch. It's got a better screen; you can play it on a TV; it's fantastic to play with friends; and it has some incredible games, from mind-blowing first-party stuff like Zelda: Breath of the Wild to fantastic indies like Hollow Knight.

BUT... The 3DS has a unique offering with its three-dimensional display, and something like Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon is every bit as visually impressive as Breath of the Wild, in its way. It also has an unparalleled software library, especially with all the DS games and the virtual console.

Whichever one you go with, I think both will offer you endless hours of fun. If I could keep only one, I'd probably still hold on to the Switch, thanks to the local multiplayer, an already bulging software library and the fact that it still has more to offer. The 3DS has an incredible array of games, but we have already seen the best of it - but the Switch still has the promise of even better stuff down the line. And it has been some time since any Nintendo console got this level of support from game developers.

Guys, I would love to have both, but some kind of feeling about having two of these consoles would make me go craaaaazy. Plus I don’t have that much money I’m thinking about that 3DS more and more, but I’m worried my parents will be mad ...

@Osk6r Ultimately it is your choice and if you look at the library of games and decide the 3DS more suits your tastes then you should go for it.

But I stand by my opinion that selling consoles is a mistake if you can help if because I have always regretted doing so after the fact. Heck, I sold the PS3 2 times and re-bought it a 3rd time! Because I was a moron.

It's ultimately your choice, but I would say no. 3DS has a superior library of exclusives at the moment, but the 3DS won't get any more first-party it seems. Even then, most first-party titles in the last year have been ports or remakes.

Simply put, Switch is the present and future. The 3DS is the past. Should you have a 3DS? Yes. At the cost of the Switch? No.

Put this way I got plenty of 3DS XL consoles because they were the collectables and won't sell unless the deals were worth selling. Nothing wrong having both. I got Switch and 3DS XL and both are happy with each other.

Lots of classic DS and 3DS games are never going to make it to the Switch, so you best hang onto that 3DS.

I think you haven't been looking hard enough.
