Topic: Shiny Hunting LGP/LGE

Was just wondering if people have been shiny hunting in the Let's GO games and wanted to talk about it. Thought of the idea after I just caught a shiny female Nidoran while hunting for a male.

Anyone have any stories to share? Favourites, mishaps, surprises, etc.

I spent a long long time hunting a shiny digglet, back then before I knew you didn't actually need to catch more pokemon after the first 30-something, and that's how I got a full level 60 team before the third gym. Of course I didn't use them afterwards.

The only other shiny I've hunted is Chansey in Cerulean Cave. Which I also used to raise several pokemon to level 100 for the expert trainers.

@Eel I spent about 5 hours trying to snag a shiny Vulpix north of Vermilion. Had a high catch combo, was using lures. No dice.

@Raccoonius You'd probably be better off putting this in the Switch Forum. But I watch a streamer/YouTuber called aDrive and he caught every shiny in LGPE. No I am not joking. Between evolving and catching has has had every shiny, legit, in game, and has them all on video to prove it.

He's also like 48 shinys into Sw/Sh.

Wow that's pretty wild. Would be really neat to have a full shiny Pokedex, but man would that be a chore and a half to do.

@Raccoonius I would call it about 4 and half chores myself. XD I did shiny breeding for about a week. Got one, and realized it was all I was doing in all of my free time for an entire week.

I just am not willing to devote so much time. But for aDrive, he streams it, and is talking with his large and pretty cool and active fanbase.

@Heavyarms55 Yeah it definitely can be a slow process. I was trying to hunt for a couple specific shinys, and no dice. I had my catch combos up to 32, was using lures, was on routes where the spawn rate was decent. Nothing. I ended up with a shiny Nidoran female and a shiny ratatta instead. Had no catch combos for either, just got lucky.

@Raccoonius When it comes down to it - every method is just about getting lucky. There are things we can do to get better odds, but if the odds were 99.9% it's still possible you could never get one.

Then you have people like my friend who did nothing at all and got like 3 or 4 random shinys just in his main story play through.
