Well, the Japanese edition is open to preorder from Play-Asia. There are a whopping eight different preorder options. Different combinations of Switch cases, original Neo Geo cases, artbook, soundtrack...I've never seen a game get this many options. Personally, I think the Switch case is ugly as sin, so I'll be opting for one of the Neo Geo case options.

Although the Japanese eShop doesn't list Samurai Spirits yet (so I can't confirm if the Japanese version supports English), the official SNK Japan YouTube channel has an English trailer, so I think it's fair to assume it will.

Giuseppe: One thing that surprised some is that the Switch version is going to run at 60 FPS. Was that challenging to achieve?
Yasuyuki Oda: It was definitely hard. It’s very different hardware from everything else. We were already kind of pushing the limits even with PS4 with the stages and everything.
A lot of work went into it but it was definitely a priority from the beginning because it’s a very competitive fighting game and frame rate is key.
We made sure to take care and that the art style stayed intact but keeping the priority as much as possible on performance.

Where am I going! Nowhere, unless if I say otherwise!

What's the resolution? Anything can run at 60fps if it's 480p

Performance over resolution, all day every day.

I'd rather a buttery smooth muddy mess than a beautiful slide show.

@Magician so do I. But I also don't want 700p to achieve that 60fps

Well this is gonna wreck my budget. I was just gonna download it digitally but those add ons look nice.

I'm personally waiting on the Steam version for the improved online netplay and higher resolution so I can have a more even balance between that and performance

Also the Switch Pro Controller honestly sucks for fighting games imo the d-pad is too mushy and I'm too money sensitive at the moment to invest in a third party option that I'm only going to use for a few fighting games considering I haven't gotten many on Switch

There's a multitude of Switch compatible arcade sticks you could purchase.

Anywho, I'm eager to see if SNK partners with NIS America for a possible limited edition of the western release, as they did with SNK 40th Anniversary and SNK Heroines. A part of me wanted to import the uber-edition from Japan, the one that offers a Neo Geo shock box that calls back to the original game cases for the Neo Geo home system. But it just wasn't within my budget.

The NEO GEO Pocket version is included??
I loved the Game Boy version of Samurai Shodown! The best fighting game I played on Game Boy.

@Magician I'm aware, but the Switch just isn't my preferred platform for fighting games

I get almost all of them on PS4 and PC to begin with. The only exceptions were the ACA NeoGeo titles like Garou and KOF 95-98 and 2000, as well as Dragon Ball FighterZ

Gamepad wise, I vastly prefer the DualShock 4 over the Switch Pro Controller, and their are just more options for that console accessory wise at this point compared to the Switch
