Looks like Runner 3 is getting some big improvements next week with a price cut and a sale to go along with it. At least that's what they told me on their twitter account when I asked about the PS4 news today. Guess we'll see, but don't buy R3 before next week. 😊 Oh and current owners of the Switch version, even on cart, will get the update as well. That's on their dev blog page.

I get that players could and probably did get put off originally, because the game, at least in terms of scoring perfects (which is the only reason I play, doesn't seem worth playing if you're just going to skip through each level ignoring the gold bars) is certainly harder than Runner 2, but I quickly learnt to love that about it. Nearly every 100/100 is a mini epic and bonking over 100 times starts becoming a habit. For me at least.
I rarely celebrate difficulty in gaming, but in Runner 3 it's the difficulty that makes it worthwhile. Without it you may as well stick with Runner 2.
@gcunit I looked for a Runner 3 thread, went back about 5 pages in the "Switch" forum, but couldn't find one. And the reason I haven't really played any of these games is the difficulty, so I'm very much looking forward to an easy mode. I play games for fun, not a challenge, though I realize I'm in the minority on a gaming website.
@rallydefault Gamestop (US) has it on cart, new is $39.99, used is $29.99. According to the PS blog, US again, it will be $19.99 digital, not sure about a disc. Also not sure about anywhere besides US but this seems like the kind of game that may have been digital only in the EU.
I'm the same, generally, but it's something behind the simplicity of the Runner gameplay, and the rhythmic nature of it, that makes the repetition of trying over and over again, and failing miserably until finally getting a clear run with all 100 gold bars, really fun for me.
The only reason I haven't played it more is because the levels are so long, once I commit to trying to complete one 100/100, I feel I really have to stick with it in one session to finish it otherwise all the memorisation is in jeopardy, so I need a decent chunk of guaranteed free time to feel comfortable playing it.
Glad to see it's opening its arms to other players though and has encouraged you in. Hope you really like it too

@gcunit I can't imagine ever trying to 100% a level but I like the look of the runner games. I had fun playing the Rayman music levels but as far as I could tell those were mostly gimmes. I hate 1 hit kill mine art levels though, I won't, or rather can't, get to far in the Donkey Kong games. So I'm going to buy this, set all possible options to easy, and see how it goes.
Won't be a total waste, my son is into the painful stuff like Cuphead. He won't try to 100% everything either but he'll make it through every level on mormal, he's pretty good.

Welp, looks like this is the excuse for me to get this game. I've been holding off til I cleared my backlog more, but at this point I think it's clear enough to grab this one on sale. I'll probably jack up the difficulty to max honestly, so this update improves it even for me.
@baller98 Thanks, I was just coming to post that. NL only covers games that are 90% off I guess, not 66%. I was about to buy it but I need to get my credit card and figure out how many hold coins to use, I decided on 100, that's how many expired by January, got another 45 to replace half of those.
