Topic: Rune Factory 4?....AND 5?!?!?!

That announcement was a roller coaster ride for me.
Rune Factory? AWESOME!
Rune Factory 4 remaster. Damn, everyone who likes RF already played it on 3DS and won't buy this, so we won't get a new one.
Rune Factory 5 in development. Holy t AWESOME!

People don't understand how important this game is considering there was very little hope for RF5 since it's been almost six years since RF4 and Neverland went bankrupt.

Please do not sleep on these games! They're so ****ing good.

I thought Stardew was a lighter version of Rune Factory.

I just realized that I can finally have a high quality and HD wallpaper taken from the game's opening movie now. lol

I mean, my current one is fine due to Photoshop stuff, but it's still kinda blurry/pixelly since it's from the 3DS's resolution. I couldn't find an HD version of the opening way back then, so...yeah. >.<

I wonder if RF5 will look like the console games or keep the style of the numbered games.
While I did really like the how Frontier and Tides of Destiny looked, I think the 2D style works really well for getting from point A to point B quickly. One think I really appreciated with the handheld games is how with each one they cut back the time it takes to get from your farm to anywhere in town.

I've only played 4, so I'm fine with whatever. I wouldn't mind experiencing a 3D RF though.

@Yorumi I know a lot of people hate on Tides but I think it's my second favourite game in the series. I really loved the exploration and combat. Tides of Destiny mixed with Rune Factory 4 would be the perfect game for me.

Like I said though, I do really like how quick it is to get around in the 2D games, but as long as they could figure out a layout in 3D where it doesn't take too long to get around, and possibly no loading screens in town, I'd be happy.

I thought this series was dead after the developer went bankrupt. I loved Rune Factory 4 on the 3DS. Here's hoping #5 is just as good in its own way.

@Yorumi Getting to the actual dungeons was fine in Tides, I'm mainly talking about getting around town. With the 2D games you can walk across the entire town within seconds because of how your character is scaled. Your character can run past a house in a couple of steps. In 3D games it's much more time consuming to walk around town.

@Joeynator3000 3D Rune Factory already exists on the Wii, and later the PS3.
It wasn't great... but I think they should try it again.

Yeah I know they exist, I've only played 4, though.

I've played the first and 4.

I actually played 4 all the way to the first set of credits... Which was a whole one in game month.

But I dunno, it kinda felt like I was done by then, and I completely lost interest after that.

I wonder what they added as they mention it was a special version with new content.

So far all we know is that it includes new marriage-related events and a new difficulty setting.

Rune Factory Frontier might be my favourite RF. The runie system wasn't great but if you know how to deal with them, it becomes a non-issue. The characters are all my favourites (especially Mist) and it looked great.

RF4 is the better game, for sure, but Frontier really had a wonderful atmosphere. I hope RF5 is similar.

I’m pretty stoked for this. I’m more of a bokumono gal but I have always appreciated what rune factory does. I guess with the new bokumono and rune factory games I don’t have to get little dragons cafe. I love stardew but I have hit a wall and since fantasy life died on the 3ds rune factory fills that void nicely. Not related but I hope ever oasis gets ported then. I’m willing to play my 3ds games on the 3ds but Ever Oasis was sent out to die and I hate that.

Several folks have asked the XSEED twitter page for confirmation of a physical release of RF4.

Mums the word. Looks like digital-only for the moment.

Q: Will Rune Factory 4 and 5 be localized and released here?
A: Definitely.
Q: What's the price?
A: In Japan the price was announced for Rune Factory 4 special, and converting it into CAD it's around $60.
Q: When's the North American RF4 Special coming?
A: In Japan the release date was this June...or this July. (Bad memory). Probably a month or 2 later here.
Q: Physical or digital?
A: On the official Nintendo website, there is box art...so probably physical AND digital.

What's going on with them? We should've had a date by this point unless it was delayed...this is driving me crazy.
