To be fair, it would be weird if they ported to a Nintendo console by DECREASING the FPS.

That seems maybe counterproductive? Even ignoring that FPS is vastly more important than 1080p, Nintendo's thing for a while has been a focus on 60 FPS to get as many of their games as they reasonably can to play as smoothly as possible. So making a Switch game at a higher resolution over that kinda contradicts what Nintendo is actively selling to their core audience.

I mean at points developers will probably have to, but it's not a wise decision if they have a choice at any point.

Except the PS4 Pro is $400. Not to undermine your point, since they're clearly selling at lose, or at least a lower margin than expected, which is impressive, but holy ****ing **** $500 just on hardware?! Do you know how many games I could buy with that kind of money?! I could clear out the vast majority of my Steam wishlist during a Holiday sale with that, and I have over 100 games on that list! I mean, here I am, wondering whether or not it'd be worth spending upwards of $200 on a new graphics card just because some Indie Unity games nearly caused my Comp to take off like a commercial Airliner...until I realized that was more down to bad coding, and two of them are in the process of being restructured so they aren't as huge a load on processors, while the rest probably weren't worth playing to begin with.

It's Capcom, I'm going to make two predictions...
1. Resident Evil VII will end up on Switch
2. Ultra Street Fighter II will end up on PS4 and Xbox One

RE VII has already reviewed well, as long as it sells well a Switch port is a certainty. If USF II reviews and sells well, it also gets a port. 'No plans' is simply Capcom speak for 'it's happening, we just don't want to/can't talk about it right now.'

@Gamer83 The latter is more likely than the former, and almost guaranteed in my opinion. RE7 is made with on a custom engine, so the question is whether they deem the porting costs worth the effort of releasing it on the Switch. The Switch is currently sold out to Zelda fans alone, if this is pretty much all the stock there is for launch, then RE7 has practically no chance on the Switch. The question is whether it can still sell after 6 months or longer than that. I'd love to see it happening, but I don't think it will unfortunately. But USFII on PS4 and Xbox One? Yeah, that will happen.

I think we'll see a RE game on the Switch eventually but I'm not convinced it'll be RE7. If the game has legs and people are still talking about it in the second half of the year? Then sure. Probably next year we'll get it. If the Switch does particularly well in terms of sales? Then yes, if not RE7 then a whole bunch of other third party games. But I'm not holding my breath.

@Octane I think the Switch will continue to sell well, definitely better than the Wii U but perhaps not in the first half of 2017. I'd say that E3 onwards when we hear of what games Nintendo has in store going forward, is when sales really start to pick up. That's assuming they don't screw it up.

As for Resident Evil 7 having legs, I doubt it'll be remembered come July. It's a game that launching any later wouldn't sell anywhere near as well or get the same level as hype as it is likely to right now.

Capcom will play things safe regarding the Switch. They know Monster Hunter will sell well on it, especially with the Japanese market and how eager they are to buy the system, and the new power will allow the series to grow, so that's gonna be where they hedge their bets initially.

@FragRed No doubt about the Switch, but I wonder how many people still care about RE7 in 6 or 12 months from now. If there were more Switch units available day one, then maybe RE7 would've had a chance, it probably won't in a year from now.

Yea man, but like you said, that extra 100 bucks you'd be spending on a PC for similar power would eventually be rendered null due to the incredibly low cost of PC games. So yea, the PS4 Pro will be cheaper only for the hardware, but then as soon as you buy 2 games (or a game and another controller) you'd already become more expensive than the guy who decided to just build the same thing on a PC and buy his games through Steam.

(I was assuming a situation where a person, theoretically, doesn't have a gaming machine initially and was deciding between building a PC or getting a PS4 Pro. Maybe that's where you are misunderstanding me. I would never build a gaming PC with PS4 Pro specs lol... oh god.)

@Octane I think people shouldn't worry too much about not getting games like Resident Evil 7 just yet, as that was clearly in development for a good three years, and depending when Switch dev kits were sent out, may have been too late in the development of the game to start looking at making the port.

Same can be said for a lot of games coming out. The time to be concerned is at and after E3 if little to no new games are revealed to be coming to the Switch, as those will be the ones likely to have had dev kits early enough to add in Switch support.

@FragRed Yeah, I don't worry about it too much. Like I said before, I would've been nice if some of the old ports were available day one, but I, too, think that the upcoming releases are far more important.

Personally, I am cool with not getting resident evil on switch, did never really like that series.

@rallydefault Except those low prices are due to sales and market-driven price drops, which happen pretty frequently on the PS4 as well. I could just as easily buy a dozen or so used retail PS4 games if I bought a new one this year, especially if I go to Gamestop or Amazon during a large sale. Meanwhile, I'm 99% sure that those "PS4 Pro-level specs" wouldn't cost you around $50 when they were new, while getting newer, high-end equipment outta come closer to $1000, if not exceeding it. New high-end PC games still seem to cost the about same price as retail console games, and those indie games that I've been spending more time with lately sure don't seem to push the envelope, so if you're buying games new, I don't think you'd be saving a whole lot money. And all of this just happens to require dealing with one or more highly oversaturated storefront, especially Steam - seriously, I took a look at my wishlist for the first time in a while, and I'm realizing that I put a lot of stuff on there simply because if I didn't, I probably wouldn't find it again - and I was right. I barely even recognize half of this stuff!

I'm really just gawking at the idea of throwing a ton of money at any kind of hardware, though. I personally can't see how it would be beneficial when there's such a huge trade-off. I can't even say whether or not the PS4 Pro will have any legs now that they've started releasing mild upgrades to consoles that only been out for a few years. But then again, if you're patient and value fun over fancy graphics, everything can being obtained for a budget price. I think I'm really starting to like being patient...

.....speaking of being patient, I agree with Gamer83 that it's only a matter of time before we see RE7. We're talking about Capcom here - what financially successful game haven't they ported to some other system later down the line? It'll be fine. You just gotta be patent. Play something else instead, or...watch someone else play it on the internet. I don't recommend it, just because a lot of people suck at games online, but hey.
