Bought RE4 and the Revelations games during the sale.
I completely forgot the Revelations games had motion controls! Damn, it's such a great addition. I also don't understand why the Revelations games didn't get more critical and commercial acclaim. I think they're both pretty excellent. The second especially!
So disappointing that they didn't add motion controls for RE4 though!
Well, I got Remake 1 on Switch.... No great problem with puzzles, although the backtracking to & fro was rather tedious No problem with ammo, herbs or ink ribbons... But the terrible camera angles!!!
Zero is fixed angles like RE1. RE4 is over-the-shoulder like RE5/6/Revelations.
RE4 is pretty much the game that originally invented that style of camera. CliffyB even said Gears of War copied it from RE4.
Most people probably don't even remember that that camera style had to be invented. It wasn't always obvious. Before RE4, they actually tended to use a camera directly behind the character.
@Morpheel
You do though, because you don't have a line of sight. If you're shooting from a long distance, you have no idea if you've got the right angle to hit them. That problem doesn't exist with a crosshair and over-the-shoulder camera.
When are you shooting over a long distance in this game anyway? One screen away tops, if you ran away to aim.
The only enemy that could move out of the way is the hunter (and the chimera), and even those tend to appear in tight corridors where they can't really side step.
In either case, you can just press L to auto aim again.
There's no way these games could put the camera behind you, so I'd recommend not trying to play them like modern third person shooters.
A little spatial awareness is needed to enjoy them
Edit: with dogs, you can avoid them until you have the shotgun. Then just let them come to you and blow them away. Or just keep avoiding them if you wish to save on ammo.
Not sure if there's any unavoidable dogs in these ones. Haven't played 0.
@Dezzy
If they had just ported over the RE 4 Wii Edition, I'd have bought it day one. Motion control really added to that game.
Yep. Especially given that the Revelations games have motion controls. Those are great and have 2 different options. You can do it with the separated joycons, so it's just like RE4 on Wii. Or you can do it with the angle of the controller/undocked Switch, so it's like using the Wii U gamepad. Both work great.

One screen away is what I meant. Maybe it's slightly nitpicking but it's just the specific sort of thing that I happen to find annoying. When playing these games, I'd often miss my first shot if I'm on the other side of the screen.
That just annoys me.
If that doesn't happen to annoy you, I can see how those games would be excellent.
RE4 is my favorite game of all time. I've beaten it on like every platform. RE is my favorite franchise. If not for the price point, I'd definitely get them. I'm just waiting on a sale that I assume will be in October.
