We have heard that games won't be region blocked (in general), but what I'm wondering is whether we'll be able to access eShop of various regions on any region console. This is especially important considering digital only games.
Even if retail games were released on different days, having the Nintendo Download content be exactly the same in multiple regions would be a dream come true.

I don't see this happening, digitally, because of the rating system. You can import physical games at your own leisure, but almost certain that's the extent of it.
@Siskan In fact it is already possible on Wii U. You can use the eshops of different locations if you create multiple Wii U users (Miis) and temporarily change your country in the settings.

@shani Interesting. But that would be different countries in the same region (for example various European countries). I wonder if I'd be able to access the Japanese eShop on Switch.
In ny case this makes it a bit more probale that I could have digital games from two different regions at the same time, provided that it will be possible to have one from another region at all.

I have to play BotW in Japanese, even though I don't know that language (yet). The voice acting in the story trailer is 10x better than the English one...
If the Switch eshop should actually be region free, it would be a real incentive for me to buy BotW on the Switch (and to buy the Switch in the first place).
@Tsurii Lol what? No I didn't even know there was a German version (although I've been playing LoZ in English since a few years anyway). ^^ I'll go watch that right now.
EDIT: Ok, it was a bit better than the English version. Still prefer the Japanese version though. I have to start learning Japanese I guess!
What's strange though: The German version differs on the wording.
The Deku Tree says: "... what happened in our country 100 years ago" instead of "what happened 100 years ago"
The Goron says: "Have fun with it" instead of "here it comes".
And the King of Hyrule says: "Save my people and my daughter Zelda" instead of "save my daughter".
@shani I definitely won't accept anything but Japanese voices. I've had to skip too many games because of that in the past. I always want the original language in general, but then there's also the fact that English dubs are almost always really poor and would ruin the game in this case.
I also don't like when they don't stay true to the original lines. My Japanese is poor, but the Deku tree doesn't mention the country in the Japanese trailer. Unfortunately I can't hear what the Goron is saying very well due to the music etc., but it kind of sounded like "You did it!", but that's probably wrong. Same with the king, but I don't think he mentions anyone but his daughter.

Yeah exactly, that was always the case for me as well. Whenever something's dubbed, it's not the actor speaking anymore while they're in their role, it's some person who may be dubbing for a living but still never sounds like he or she is actually in that role or part of the story. Besides, there aren't that many professional dubbers so at some point you always hear the same people dubbing multiple actors and it becomes meaningless.
E.g. German dubs are truly awful and ruin everything, so for many many years I have been watching US and UK stuff in English. I also watch most Spanish, Dutch and French stuff in the original language, sometimes with subtitles if I have to (but I hate subtitles, they distract me).
And sometimes you're just lucky and the English dub is good.
So far I always made it a rule to watch everything in the original as long as I have an understanding of that language (and because I hate subtitles), so I usually I never watched anything in Japanese.
The first time I deviated from that rule was when I was (re-)watching the Street Fighter animated stuff. The German version was terrible, the English version was barely acceptable and only the Japanese version sounded truly accurate (despite me not understanding a word). I had to use the so-much-hated subtitles but I still enjoyed it more than the English version.
In previous Zelda games I didn't mind the language that much, maybe because there was little voice acting, but I still preferred the English text over the German one, because the wording was fitting better to the story.
Guess BotW will be the first time since Street Fighter that I won't accept the English dub anymore...
@Tsurii I don't want to start a discussion here and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, of course. But I thought this was widely agreed upon, I don't know anyone (anyone who actually watches stuff in the original language and can compare both) who would say that our German dub 'actors' are doing a good job. a) they often leave things out, translate things wrong or ruin the humor of the original, b) they don't act like they're actually in the situation, apparently only the real (original) actors can do that because they are in character and have prepared for it for months c) there are only a few dubbers in total, so many characters always sound the same although they do not in the original.
But hey, maybe there is some rare exceptional German dub that I have missed, feel free to name one.
That settles it. I have to play the game in Japanese. Second best was definitely the Russian dub, it sounds more fitting to the characters and more heartfelt than the others. In the last parts both Spanish dubs were okay, but otherwise they were totally unfitting, just as the Italian, French, German and English one.
@shani Right, I agree with most of the things you pointed out. But I don't personally mind subtitles (though being able to understand the language in question without them is of course optimal).
I can't really say much about German dubs as I'm Swedish. But I remember hearing a German dub of a Swedish movie once that was rather hilarious as one actor is famous for his voice and the German dubber had a rather high-pitched voice in comparison.
@Siskan Hehe I can imagine that, many US actors with a distinctive, famous voice sound totally different and 'normal' in their German dubs.
My only real problem with subtitles is that they distract me. I constantly keep looking at them instead of watching the movie. Also, I usually already have read the whole subtitle before the character reaches those parts that I've read. Sometimes this spoils the surprise as I already know from the subtitle what happens in the next scene.
In some rare cases I've even read them before the character starts speaking lol.
