Hi all!

As many of you will know, it is possible to access other regions' eShops on the Switch by creating additional Nintendo Account's for different countries and linking them to user profiles on your console - I was wondering if anyone has done this?

If so, what region are you from - and what additional regions have you set up? ..have you found any cool demos/games in a 'foreign' eShop that you'd recommend people check out? ..which regions would you recommend people add to their Switch? ..maybe your 'local' eShop has titles available that you don't think are available elsewhere and you'd recommend people check out??

It'd be great to hear your experiences Thanks!

Australian with an Australian eShop account.

I also have a dummy account in order to access the Japanese eShop (and I suppose that it can be used as a "Guest" profile for the purposes of allowing others to sample games without affecting my save data). The Japanese account is used purely for downloading demos at this stage. I intend to import retail games such as I Am Setsuna and Minna de Waiwai! Spelunker at some point, but I can't see myself going out of my way to download Japanese eShop exclusives unless they cover genres or franchises that have next to zero chance of reaching the West.

I'm keen on I Am Setsuna because the English-language version is right there on the cartridge (and I would have bought an English-language retail release if they bothered to issue one locally), and Spelunker seems simple enough to play even with little to no knowledge of Japanese, and I think that it can be fun with 4-players. The Japanese version of Disgaea 5 Complete also includes the English version (making the delay of the Western release all the more baffling) for those considering importing, but I would much rather have the Australian case with our local age classification etc. for consistency.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"

@sillygostly Oh wow - that's great!

My primary account is for my home region (UK) ..I decided to add a Japanese account to globalise my Switch a little - but immediately started getting flooded with Japanese-language stories on my Switch's news feed! ..so I also added a US account to get some more English-language news coming through - and to add a 3rd market to my console ..so far, all I have downloaded is a rather confusing Puyo-Puyo Tetris Demo - the language barrier makes it quite difficult to play (!) - but it's great to know that certain titles (I Am Setsuna, Disgaea 5 etc.) come with a pre-installed English translation packed in

When checking for languages in the Japanese eShop 英語 (eigo) means English while 日本語 (nihongo) means Japanese.

There's also a demo for Minna de Waiwai! Spelunker if you're interested in checking that out (it's in the Coming Soon section). The menus are a little convoluted (especially for non-Japanese speakers), however, the game itself is fairly straightforward (you'll get the hang of it after dying about a dozen times), and it supports up to four players. It's a pretty cute game, and I'm thinking about importing it once it becomes available. I strongly doubt that it will be released outside of Japan (and if it is, I doubt that it will be issued a retail release).

@sillygostly Oh nice So, just so I've got it right, in-game language options are displayed on each games page in the eShop? (..and 英語 = English language option available in game?) ..thanks for the tip! That'll come in very handy in future!

Yup. The available languages are usually the first thing listed beneath the software description, just like the English-language eShop. 英 means English and 語 means language, so you'll often see the "語" character at the end of every other listed language.
