This topic is for those actually playing and (mostly) enjoying RBI Baseball 17. This is not a place to whine about the lack of a career mode, graphic standards, etc. It's for those of us who ponied up for the budget title and are actually playing it, probably because we are either MLB and/or RBI Baseball junkies.

I've started a 162-game season with my New York Yankees. Set for now on "easy" with "field assist" until I can learn to hit consistently and run the bases better. After a dozen or so games, I'm enjoying this game much more.

The hitting has become much easier. The pitcher moves inside, the pitch is going to be on the corner or off the plate, and if you've paid attention, you'll likely guess correctly. Swing on an 0-2 is usually a bad idea, etc.

Anyone else start a season or have some GAMEPLAY observations/tips to share?

Can anyone explain the base running mechanics to me? The only way I can get runners to move up is to use the "advance all" button which generally ends with someone thrown out or not stopping at a base. Using Y plus the left stick or pad is not working. At all.

@GooRoo : It's been awhile, but "Advance All" is a nightmare because all runners just keep running even after reaching the next base.

A few things. First, there is a "modern" and a "classic" control scheme. Check which one you are using.

Second, avoid the "advance all button" if at all possible. If you cannot, be ready to hit return to base (usually B) right after your runner reaches the intended bag.

A better option is the advance button with base direction (which you say is not working for you). Again, check the control scheme . . . I believe one utilizes the advance+ stick control, the other has each base represented by a button on one of the joycons. (Of course, this may result in your hitter legging out a double only to realize the idiot base runner illogically stopped at third!)

In any event, my least favorite part of this flawed game.

@bluedogrulez Is this game any fun for people who enjoy a game like Baseball Advance?
