Topic: Question about save data on the switch

So I'm trying to play Night in the Woods but my switch is telling me that there's no room for save data and wants me to archive software. I have an SD card though so is there an option to just put my future save data on the SD card?

If there isn't a way to do this is there an option to get my future games to automatically download to my SD card instead of my switch?

The first time I inserted the SD card on the switch, it automatically started using it for new downloads.

Visit data management in the system settings menu. I'd recommend to archive all the games that are using space in the switch, and then redownlaoding them to the SD card.

@StormtheFrontier He is on the right track here, but you should be able to go into data management and move downloads to your SD card (assuming it is not full) without having to delete and redownload them. If your console AND SD card are both full (WOW!) then you will need to either archive or get a bigger SD card and follow Nintendo's instructions on how to transfer data between cards.

@Meowpheel I don't have my Switch in front of me because I am at work, but I swear I saw that in the options. I fully apologize if I mis-remembered. If that is not a feature, it sure as hell should be!

Just to clear things up:

FAQ: Can I move data saved in the Nintendo Switch console's system memory to a microSD card?

You can copy screenshots to a microSD card. Start System Settings on the HOME Menu and then select Data Management ⇒ Save Data/Screenshots ⇒ Manage Screenshots to copy screenshots between the system memory and the microSD card.

Software data cannot be moved from the console's system memory to the microSD card. If you'd like to store software data on the microSD card, you must first delete the data from the console's system memory. Then, open Nintendo eShop and redownload the data to the microSD card.

Save data cannot be saved to a microSD card.
