I've always heard good things about the original. I might get it soon unless there's a physical version coming out later (I assume the physical version if it exists, isn't already out considering it's just out now)
Switch Physical Collection - 1,251 games (as of April 24th, 2024)

I really want the physical version but it's so annoying that it won't be available for months. I'm pleased that it has turned out well, some of the guys on Sega-16 were predicting that it would be a disaster.
The graphics are... debatable. On the one hand it looks nice. On the other hand, it looks both cheap AND is completely removes the apocalyptic feel of the original. The aiming takes perfect precision to hit things, which this wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for that the 3D rectagle makes it hard to see exactly where the centre of your aim is.
Sometimes there's no feedback if or when you're hitting enemies. For instance, on the first boss on the original, the boss both flashed and make a loud sound when you hit it. This time, I couldn't even tell when I was hitting the thing this time round.
The animation of the enemies has a lot to be desired. The FMV cutscenes are terribly cheap, and somehow feel rushed in both how they were made and how quickly everything moves, in spite of it being based on the original cutscenes.
There's not auto-rapid fire option that I can see. The one change that they could have, and should have gone with, was to include an auto-rapid fire so that your fingers don't hurt after ages of constantly mashing the same button continuously. I hope I'm wrong that there is an option, and that I've just not found it. But I doubt it.
The only good thing is the music. And that is from the original game. They should have just re-released the original game. What a waste of £23. I could have bought at least 2 decent games in a sale for that price! I can`t believe I put my blind faith in this; handing over in the hope that Sega could return with some decent arcade games again, only to end up with this rubbish!
I`m definitely not the only one thinking this game is terrible:
Also, another thing I didn`t point out is that the loading times are atrocious.
Another thing I failed to mention is how it feels harder avoiding projectiles.
It`s hard to see enemies a lot of the time, and harder to understand which enemies you have locked on to.
@Pigeon I find your descriptions of it a little hyperbolic, but I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and that video. It doesn't seem to justify a purchase in its current state and price point.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
How hard is Panzer Dragoon? 🤔
I've heard it can be hard, but I don't know how hard it is.
(Is it more like Dark Souls hard, Mario Sunshine hard, etc?)
Also, are LRG versions always more expensive? It's $40 for the physical version, and $25 for the digital. (That's a ridiculous jump).
So, should I wait for the physical version, or should I get the digital version, if I were to get it? 🤔
Please give Ninjala a chance, guys. 🤔

Also, if I don't respond to your post within a day (or two), don't worry, I'm not ignoring you. I'm going to be busy, though I will do my best to respond in a timely fashion.
@ACNHislit There's some challenge, but it's not extremely difficult. Definitely not Dark Souls hard. I was able to beat it and I'm hardly some gaming master, just average. Of course it depends on what difficulty setting you're playing on.
I don't know much about LRG releases, I've never bought one. Unless you're hardcore into owning all your games physical, I would just get the digital version. $40 is too damn much considering Panzer Dragoon is a pretty short game.
@vio
Okay, thanks for the info.
If you don't mind me asking, what difficulty did you beat it on?
Haha, true. Yeah, I was kind of thinking the same thing, regarding the price.
Do you feel it's worth it at $25 then, or should I wait for a sale?

@ACNHislit I beat it on the normal/medium setting. I have not yet beat it on hard. Considering I'm the OP of this thread who said don't miss out on this one, I would say it is worth it. But of course it depends if you're into old school on-rail shooters like I am.
@vio
Okay, just curious. 👍
Well, Good Luck with beating it on Hard.
I know that you recommended it. I've just heard that are some "issues", and that it feels slightly rushed.
I've played (and own), almost every Star Fox game (Assault being the exception), if that answers your question. 😃😆
Please give Ninjala a chance, guys. 🤔

Speaking of Star Fox:
Happy 4th anniversary to Star Fox Zero (and Guard).
I just re-played Corneria using the Retro Arwing. I've done this every year, since SFZ came out (except the first year because I bought it 2 days after launch)
Please give Ninjala a chance, guys. 🤔

Panzer Dragoon is currently on sale for its lowest ever price of $6.24 in the US store. I've held off from snapping this up due to mixed reviews, but surely at this price it's worth a purchase?

I figured for less than $10, you can’t go wrong. I had my eye on it too. Glad I held off.
