Topic: Old vs New account for switch

On the nintendo switch, you have to login to a nintendo account to have some things such as the eshop(I believe), so I have been debating whether to use my old or a new nintendo account on it. I know at launch there will be no virtual console, but maybe later on we will be able to download previously bought games connected to our account. So which account should I use? Also, will I need a NNID for the Switch?

It's not how fast you can do something, it's how well you can do something fast

There's no reason I can think of why you would want or need to create a new account. If they do recognise your previous purchases then obviously linking to your current account is the only way you can claim those games. And even if they don't keeping the same account would mean that your gold/platinum coins are pooled into one place.

I don't know this, but I am presuming you're going to be able to link more than one Nintendo Account to your Switch, just like you could have up to 12 NNIDs linked to your Wii U. If that's the case, then you should be able to link all your accounts and get access to the account history of each of them.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.

Nintendo has already confirmed that previous eShop purchases made on Wii, Wii U and 3DS will be assigned to your Nintendo Account; providing you have linked it to the Network ID account used for those systems.

There is no need to have more than one Nintendo Account, as this is now the default service for all online/back-end user data. So in a nutshell, link your Network ID account to whichever Nintendo Account you like, and stick with it.
