To be fair the only game where portable and home console versions still have two styles is Zelda. Everything else is largely the same on both.

The list I made? Fair point. I put Wii Sports, Luigi's Mansion and Kid Icarus in there more because I can see Nintendo not doing them. They aren't "old" but I'd like to see them revived on the Switch just the same

Luigi's mansion is something I want as well as f-zero. Pikmin is still on but it should never leave like zelda and mario. Maybe advance wars?

Not really. Mario has linear style and sandbox style, which are both wildly different experiences. As for Metroid, while both styles follow the same blueprint, there's enough subtle differences to justify both. The 2D games are more platforming heavy and allow for faster gameplay and more sequence breaking, while the 3D games are slower, slightly more open, and focused on exploration, scanning, and puzzle solving.

Yes, there are two styles but they haven't lived exclusively on one platform or the other for a while. The line between home console and portable game has become very blurred. Since the Wii a lot of 2D style "portable" games have made their way to Nintendo's home console. New Super Mario Bros, Kirby's Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Wario Land:Shake, Metroid Other M. And then at the same time we've seen 3D portable games. Super Mario 3D Land, Metroid Prime Hunters and Federation Force, Luigi's Mansion, Kid Icarus.

To put it simply if the Wii U and 3DS were one platform? A lot of the games they released wouldn't have much reason to exist. If Nintendo was on one platform we wouldn't have needed Mario Kart 7 & Mario Kart 8, 3D Land & 3D World, New SMB 2 & New SMB U. We wouldn't have been sitting back waiting for a home console Animal Crossing because we had New Leaf. Those resources they spent making "duplicate" releases are resources that could have instead been put towards "bringing back old franchises". Which is what this thread is about.

And I'm not disagreeing with that. I'm just saying there's some IPs that are still justified in having multiple entries because they have different styles. But yeah, they can certainly cut down on having 2 NSMB games, 2 Mario Kart games, 2 Animal Crossing games, etc.

Wave Race or even 1080/Excite/PilotWings merged into one franchise.

Luigis Mansion

Medal of Honour

I know that last one isn't Nintendos but there's no reason Nintendo cant fund a comeback (like Bayonetta 2) and it would give the Switch a Call of Duty killer.

Amen ! This game would be a killer ! The kind of mixture "Extreme Sports" was on Dreamcast, but with separate stages for each dicipline (that really lacked).

F-Zero, Eternal Darkness, 1080, Wave race and, although not their game, I'd love a new/HD remaster Skies of Arcadia on the Switch!
