Recently started Disagea 5 after pouring a ton of time into BOTW and a fair amount of Mario Kart 8. Loving the game so far and have played into mid -late chapter 3 where the item world is unlocked.

Took my gate key as per the main quest requirements and entered the item world ... 6 hours later I emerged with a level 103 gate key. Assigned it to my Macho Man Randy Savage clone character on the giant squad ( because after all , a gigantic Macho Man is awesome right ?) Huge increase in stats .. ready to throw them all !!!

I think I could be in serious trouble with the item world as a huge time sink . Anyone else in the same boat , or enjoying this game immensely as I am ?

Eh, Disgaea games are at their best when you do stupid grindy stuff like that. You're just getting the most for your money.

@LinksMightySword I haven't really been sucked into Item World yet, but definitely feeling the call of tinkering with everything! I just started Chapter 4, which adds the research teams. So many options, so little time!

The game is great, but I really feel the absence of a manual. With so many optional ways to buff and expand, it's hard to figure out what I should be doing. I know the answer is ultimately DO ALL THE THINGS, but surely there are better and worse ways to advance.

@JasmineDragon
I am at the exact same spot , but still tinkering in the item world . I ditto your thoughts on manuals ... I get by fine with all info imbedded in the software nowadays, but I guess I am just old school.... I prefer physical release on games with hard copy manuals

I fear those days are in our past for good though

I finished the main story (finally) and am just about working my way through the DLC side stuff. The story has been amazing and I'm sad to see it end. But I guess the next thing for me is just to spend loads of time in the item world myself. Unlike you though, I can only handle being in there for about 30 levels or so at a time before needing to jump back out for a breather. Grinding always feels suffocating.

Never take anything I say seriously. S'all you buddy. ;)
Mainly play on my Switch but I have 3DS, Wii U and PS4 as well.
Fave game series include: Pokemon, Smash Bros, Splatoon, Disgaea, Bayonetta, Dragons Dogma, Phantasy Star & Arena of Valor.

Thank goodness for the miracle of sleep mode! Currently making yet another run through of Xenoblade Chronicles 3ds .. working out great grinding levels and then putting it to sleep and pulling out the 3ds for awhile .. then come back and pick right up where I left off. I find myself doing this a lot.

@LinksMightySword its not in the past, its just modernized as physical DLC, Sikhs separately. Think of the manual as an Amiibo with pages But every game had a beefy strat guide available that acts as the real manual.

Sheesh, with arms and the eshop stuff, i haven even UNLOCKED the item world yet!
