I’m curious to see how well it works. I’ve used one on an Xbox 360 that didn’t run off USB. It plugged into the power plug first then the power plugged into it. It may or may not have bricked that Xbox. I’ve read stories that it red ringed Xbox’s. I had an early model. The Switch gets warm after a bit when docked, so I know it would cool it off. But how necessary is it honestly? Anyone thinking about getting it? It does look like it doubles the dock size.
Well I doubt that it was the reason the Xbox 360 red ringed. However, this is an external device that only draws power from the USB to help regulate temperatures and airflow. I do not see any issues coming from this device. Let it be known that I have never used one of these.
The original 360 Nyko Intercooler had issues with where it got its power from. It robbed the 360’s power before it got it basically. That’s my understanding. Not sure I trust Nyko products enough to give it a shot for Switch. It gets released soon so if anyone gets it can post their impressions on it.
Here’s a few posts and an article on the 360 Intercooler. They did release one later on that ran off usb and a temp sensor to automatically turn it off and on. Similar to this one for Switch.
If your reasoning is that you are concerned about the heat, I bought one of the USB-C adapters that lets me connect the Switch to the dock without physically sliding it in. I keep the Switch sitting on a stand almost in open air. This keeps it much cooler.
The adapter is little more than a UCB-C extension cable with a piece of plastic to keep the button in the dock pressed so the system thinks the Switch is sitting there.

@DTMOF84 It’s not necessary at all. The internal temps are pretty low, the fan rarely reaches full rpm and generally doesn’t stay at it for more than a few seconds. Nyko always make crap like this for people that don’t know any better, if anything they can make things worse, so my advice, never buy a 3rd party device that claims to improve cooling.
