Topic: NX - A Cross-Platform System

I've no doubt that many threads will speculate as to what NX could be, so I thought I'd start one about a specific set-up.

We've all (likely) seen the patent details that have recently emerged, which do provide food for thought. While it's important not to get too carried away, seeing as how very few patents actually make their way into sellable products, the lack of an optical disc drive and inclusion of an cartridge port could be the key to a new service.

Imagine only ever having to purchase one game for either your home console or your handheld device. This could well be the result of 'NX' - a single cartridge for both products. Likewise, if you want to purchase the game digitally, the account system would work cross-platform as well.

For Nintendo, it would be an interesting business model due to the halo effect. You own one product, and are committed to purchasing another for the extra functionality and guaranteed compatibility.

I'm sure no-one would miss discs, either, given carts have superior load times and are silent. The absence of a drive would free up space in the NX console.

So... would this be the kind of service you would expect or want from Nintendo?
