Normally I would be like “OK whatever the developer wants“. But it’s pretty ridiculous that this is not the first title, this being let’s go Pikachu/Eevee, that doesn’t support one. I don’t mean to sound crass or salty but my controller, and a lot of you too I’m sure, was not free. It did not come with our Switch. We paid like $70 for these things for the sake of using a normal controller to sit down and game. I would understand if it was something along the lines of a racing wheel, of course that doesn’t work for everything. But the fact that they charge us $70 for these controllers, these normal controllers, and then release titles that don’t use them is really frustrating. Just wanted to vent my two cents I’m sorry for the QQ post. ❤️✌🏻
I agree. It's pretty ridiculous. The reason is (most likely) the fact that they are once again forcing motion controls down our throats. I understand Mario Party not supporting it, but even with that I think the motion controls should be an option and not forced. Let's hope that the "big" Pokemon game next year will support the controller.
I agree with everything you said and let me apologize too because I’m not actually as negative as I sound 😁 this is a terrible first impression from myself to the forum community, but yes I am just very frustrated. I really don’t like motion controls and I understand that some people do and that’s great I absolutely think they should leave them in for them, but we should definitely be able to use our controller for us.
well tbh i pre-ordered lets go pikachu 2.5 months ago and now I have to wait till thursday for shipping. so that's nearly 7 days wasted on a game I thought would be sold out. way to go nintendo.
also I'm glad they dont use pro controller cause I just got my switch and I dont have one (yet).
also im hoping this game can be played handheld only. if it can't im just as mad as u but not about the same thing.
@Jarester How is it Nintendo’s fault when the game will arrive? I preordered mine at a store months ago and picked it up this morning.
The game can be played in handheld mode, yes. Keep in mind that when catching Pokémon, the system’s gyro will be active. You press A to throw a ball, but Pokémon may move left and right and you’ll need to make minor left/right pan movements

If a game can be played in handheld mode, then there is no reason WHATSOEVER why dual Joy-Con and Pro Controllers shouldn't be supported. It's ridiculous.
Similarly, Scribblenauts pulled the same crap in Showdown (I can't vouch for the double pack). Perfectly playable in handheld mode, but it forces you to use a horizontal Joy-Con when docked. :/
"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"

it was kinda a meme. similar to people blaming blizzard for things they had nothing to do with in the twitch (WoW) community. I know it wasnt their fault at all. Hopefully next time I preorder something from walmart they'll have it delivered on time like urs. I think it's cause I sent it to a spot closer to my house instead of the actual store.. so that was on me.
and wow thank god it can be played in handheld. woot. I mean full hd television screen is truely a turnpoint but dang wouldnt be pokemon without it.
@Swordsman83 Pokémon is not the only game that does not support the pro controller. thats my complaint. It’s not the end of the world but I feel like it’s a pretty fair reason to voice a grievance.
Truth be told and kind of an FYI to the thread, the motion controls are not as bad as I thought. Which is good. Still annoying that we pay good money for an officially licensed Nintendo controller that they just choose to support or not based on current mood.
@TheeHappyDalek they can also update and make options to use Pro so never say never. Just don't throw your Pro as a Pokemon ball though you might catch more than a Pokemon in the act.
With the exception of games that take advantage of split joy-cons having separate motions (1-2 Switch, Just Dance, maybe Super Mario Party IDK) and to a far lesser degree games that use the joycon as a pointer (TWEWY), there is absolutely zero reason not to support the Pro Controller. It has all the buttons you need, gyro controls, and should definitely be an option.
That said, I understand not supporting it on the aforementioned games. And there really aren't many other instances I'm aware of. Snipperclips, Voez and Blaster Master Zero all have had it patched in. Are there really any other games that I didn't list (and y'know, Pokemon) that don't support it?
I thought they learned after the Wii? Granted Pokemon and Mario Party are geared toeards younger children and not "hardcore" gamers (which the pro controller is marketed to).
Sakurai: Which is why I think we should forget about console wars and focus on what’s really important: enjoying the games themselves.
