Coming in late because I haven't visited a game forum in a minute, but I am absolutely psyched for this game. I pre-ordered as soon as I saw it on the e-shop. Glad to see other people are recognizing the potential for this to be an awesome game. I need a new, good quality slice and dice with a bit of challenge tbh.
Side note: I played the first game in high school and I remember my dad coming home and seeing Travis charge the beam katana and immediately turning off the TV, hahahah. Such classy and graceful gameplay!
My excitement level for this game is at about an 8/10. I've never played a game in the series. Although this is a spinoff, I feel as though this will be a good entry in the beat'em/brawler genre which is a little thin on Switch at the moment (Shaq Fu, Battle Crashers, and Ben 10 are all awful options in the genre). I think the metacritic could come in at around 70-75, which won't be great for the game's retail sales potential, but good enough for the Nintendo-faithful to support with 100k-200k sales.

@Punisher67 Yet others have given it everything from an OK to a great score. 52% of the reviews shown on Metacritic are positive. I'm still gonna get this game.
Y'know there are some games where if it gets less than an 80 on Metacritic everyone's hype just dies immediately. But this got exactly the reviews I expected so I feel like it's one of those games you either get or you...don't. Even with reading reviews, I haven't a single clue whether I'll like this or not.

@Punisher67 Yeah, it's not easy as a consumer to know who to trust here, but my recommendation is to read as many as possible plus to view some gameplay videos.
I thought I was going to get it today, but no... The online retailer shipped it this Wednesday, so it's probably the postal service that has f-d up. Sigh... I don't understand why the general release dates are on Fridays.
Just got it on a whim last night (I'm supposed to be on a budget....shh don't tell anyone) and I'm enjoying it. It is over the top and silly/stupid and so far the mini games are amusing. Suda51 tends to meet my crude humor quota for the decade. I'm good till 2029.

Yeah, a lot of it comes down to what you liked about Suda51's games: The sense of humor or the innovative gameplay ideas? Because it's sorely lacking in the later. I mean, it's not even that hard to see, it's a simple hack & slash with mostly generic level gimmicks that barely tie into the overall quirky aesthetic it has going on. I mean, NMH2 didn't exactly have the greatest or most varied gameplay ever, but it certainly felt unique when it came out.
Completed it today and it was a weird ride. Highlights are the text adventures (stop it with the text, out localization costs are high enough), Serious Moonlight (the twist is amazing) and the ending which revealed that. You know what I mean when you complete the game.
Plus my Majora’s Mask shirt looks great on Travis.
