Hi guys!

What do you say to speak about the features that we would like to have on the next Nintendo Switch System Update?

Let's start!
I would like to have the night mode
and I was hoping that the cartridges would allow for patches & DLC to be saved directly into them. Maybe with a double control for to be sure about data integrity and only when the battery is charged. The question is: Is the nintendo switch potentially able to write on cartridges?

EDIT: there is a roumor: "Themes will arrive with a Dec. 25 update. Free if you own the game or amiibo."

I think the next big update will roll out the online services. I look for it to have some improvements to the interface of the home screen too. It’s lacking features to customize it. The eShop should be updated too. I was just on the Wii U eShop the other day and I like it’s presentation better. At least get some music playing on it. I’m hoping to hear them come out with a USB headset that works for the game chat and audio when it’s docked. Save the mobile app for handheld mode.

A theme store would be nice...

In terms of the OS itself I would like themes and folders. I would like to put all my demo icons into a separate folder from my full games.

In terms of features I want video streaming apps and Virtual Console support. Specifically support for Gamecube and GBA titles. N64 too.

No, the cartridges are 100 % nonwritable and the Switch itself can't send anything to the cartridge slot. Other portable systems have had build in flash storage in the otherwise read-only cards, but the Switch doesn't. I understand why you would want that though, I just bought Super Mario Odyssey and there was a day one patch, so I immediately thought "if I replay this game in 10 years I will have to play the non-patched version".

@Agriculture but, Is It an hardware limitation?

I don't know, but I can't imagine they would put write capabilities on the game card reader due to concerns about piracy.

@Agriculture but you can download a game into an SD card.

Yeah, but they where talking about "updating" the game card with the latest version of the game. For that to work the game card would need some, if not all re-writable space, plus that the reader would need to be able to write too.

I'm happy with the way it is, because the first party games are usually good in 1.0 version. Physical games that require a download before they can be used is something I would never buy. Unfortunately, because of this I won't buy many third party games.

I noticed recently I get a battery depleted message sometimes on joy cons and pro controller even when the battery is charged.

I would like to have Night Mode like Kobo ComfortLight PRO. The light can be set to automatically adjust the color of the light based on the time of day, from a cool blue tone during daylight hours to a warm orange hue at night. Or you can turn off the auto setting and manually adjust the color temperature yourself.

My priority would be to fix motion input lag. Because Splatoon 2.

Since Twitter increased its maximum character limit, I think it'd make sense to also increase the max character limit of the Switch's photo/video uploader to reflect the change

Virtual Console.
Native Party and Messaging app
Folders and Themes
Cloud Saves/Better Backing up of game saves.

These would be my suggestions, not for just the next update, but the next few. However, I do feel that Nintendo is going to get the features train rolling soon.

My wishlist in order of importance

  • Photo channel
  • Possibility to backup game saves manually, cloud save is a plus but not the priority for me, I want to keep my own archive of Skyrim saves
  • Virtual console with at least Snes and Megadrive confirmed
  • Possibility to arrange software icons as I wish, not just have it rearranged automatically everytime I run something like it does now

I used to be a ripple user like you, then I took The Arrow in the knee
