Currently doing some research on the nintendo switch and am thinking about getting it in a few months. Currently a 2ds ,new 3ds and new 3ds xl user.

1. Since game saves are saved to the system on the nintendo switch, on average how big are game saves ? ( i will be getting physical copies of arms and breath of the wild when i get the console)

2. Does the nintendo switch have a browser, youtube or flipnote like apps?

3.can the nintendo switch be used without the joycon remotes

4.would a plastic screen protector suffice for durability or should i go for a tempered screen protector?

1. Pretty small in my experience, but then again it could depend on each game.
2. No
3. Yes, you can interact with the touch screen.
4. It looks pretty durable as it is to me. I use a case to carry it around so I didn't feel the need to protect the screen.

@clemyeats
1.does the plastic body of the switch scratch easily ? does it use the same matte plastic found on the new 3ds and 2ds ?
2. have you ever dropped your switch ?

I don't like screen protectors, they lower image quality and are rarely necessary in my opinion. We have two heavily used launch Switches, both with no scratches.

The plastic is very different from the 3DS matte. It is scratchable, but less so than the OG 3DS. I would compare it to a New 3DS plastic (not XL). Anyway, no scratches there either. It's very sturdy.

Nintendo games generally have rather small save files. Most games will be insubstantial. That said, third parties will be more up in the air, some may approach gigs unfortunately. I believe NBA2k18 is the only serious offender so far, sports games generally have large save files though.

It never fell and I don't scratch it. I don't use screen protectors... I don't like them, I just take care of my devices, phone, etc...

If it fell I would assume it might have a 50% chance of dropping on one of the controllers.. so compared to a vita or smartphones, it might have better chances of remaining intact and you can change that single controller for 40 bucks or so.

If you're asking this because you want to buy it for small kids... the 2DS sure feels sturdier and stronger and there's less components and movable parts so it should be more durable.
