@skywake The variety kit (5 'toys' - piano, motorbike, fishing rod, house, RC car) is cardboard, rubber bands, a couple of pieces of string, a few reflective stickers, and some sponge, plus the software, for $70.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
I think I'll try the variety kit. I mean... wow. This is very creative.
Nintendo: your toy maker DNA is showing lol
That being said, I hope this stays its own, totally optional, realm on the Switch. As others have said, just when the Switch was doing so well "winning back" some lapsed, older gamers, I hope they don't go 100% into this kinda stuff and turn those people off all over again. At this point, that doesn't seem to be the case. Just seems to be a fun, mostly kid or family-oriented delve if you're willing to pay the money. I'm fine with that.
I am genuinely impressed by the vision and imagination of Nintendo R&D. Will this sell?? I hope so because seriously this is incredibly creative thinking and it deserves to be rewarded. I will be buying this to enjoy but also show support for Nintendo thinking outside of the (cardboard) box.
For this to work I assume it's more than just cardboard. The shot of the backpack had a bunch of cables and I doubt the IR camera can work on its own in that piano contraption. We'll see I guess
Yea, the descriptions for some of the stuff reveals that many of the builds feature other materials.
Using cardboard is genius really, it's ecological, customizable, and easy to replace in the case of accidents.
I can already see people 3d printing these or something to make sturdier versions, but cardboard is easily accessible and a great material for kids to work with.
I think I will get this but I'm really worried about everything breaking and then just being stuck with nothing. Not to mention the set is $150 which seems a little pricey to me.
@YummyHappyPills You know I'd forgotten about Nintendo's sidestep of VR and you are absolutely right. I can't wait to stomp around in my cardboard mech considering that 3D and VR pretty must are like setting my eye on fire. Gaming for everyone.

@YummyHappyPills I'm just joking around, I personally think the concept is ingenious and will at the very least do decently, if not well, especially since this is much more accessible than a $600 VR headset, that on top of it requires a good enough PC to get things running decently.

This is in no way like vr, no idea where you guys are coming from TBH. This is more like ar games on 3ds combined with those hobby/craft/robot kits. Not vr.
