@nintendobynature January's games are announced (Zelda II and Blaster Master), also we have Yoshi release date (March 29th) and Kirby 3DS release date (March 8th). Possibly no Direct then.

If just the NES games were announced today I'd still assume that a Direct was coming. Yet today we've had not only the NES games revealed, but also Dragon's Dogma, Yoshi's Crafted World, and Kirby's Epic Yarn info. If we're getting a Direct at all, I'd bet on it just being a mini at this point.

Mario Galaxy is ten years old, and now I feel old.

@ilikeike The weird thing is though, even by Direct Mini standards Yoshi would've been saved for the Direct. Last year's Direct Mini still featured Kirby Star Allies despite us knowing about it beforehand.

Wonder if they have any more surprise announcements for tonight, guess we will find out in about 20 mins. Was really hoping for snes games. Hard to get excited about more nes games tbh. I appreciate them but just wish they would sprinkle in some variety.

@EvilLucario I just played thru it again a few months back. Much easier with save states but I'm still not crazy about it. It has its moments though

@EvilLucario A Link to the Past would like to have a word with you.

Mario Galaxy is ten years old, and now I feel old.

@ilikeike I'll be honest, I got bored mid-way through the Dark World and dropped it when I was younger. I tried multiple times to get into the games but failed. I don't really like Zelda games except for BotW and Zelda II and I can't exactly tell you why.

Kinda telling that within my top 5 Zelda games, it's Four Swords Anniversary Edition on the DSi and Triforce Heroes.

@Grumblevolcano another thing. Now were only getting drip fed 2 games per month? 3 was bad enough. Actually I'm furious!

@nintendobynature As long as you have a Japanese Nintendo Account to access the EShop, you can download the Famicom Online application and play it with any account you want (You don’t need to have a Japanese Nintendo Online Subscription) and access the third game Joy Mech Fight.

@EvilLucario Kinda funny how our tastes in Zelda are almost completely opposite. Link to the Past is probably my favorite game of all time, while four swords dsi and triforce heroes probably rank much lower down for me. I view A Link to the Past as basically BotW but with better dungeons, items, and structure. To each their own, though.

Mario Galaxy is ten years old, and now I feel old.

Grumblevolcano

Joy Mech Fight gives us a further insight into the NES limits. We've been assuming that NES would be 3 games a month where all 3 are games released outside Japan hence suggesting end of 2019/early 2020 SNES announcement at the latest. But with this move, NES only could be years as Japan got 148 NES games with Wii U VC.

Dezzy

So the fact that Yoshi got a release date either means there is no Direct or it's so jam-packed of stuff that they needed to get some out of the way.
Surely there must be one. This year should be a very big year for them given that last year was a bit quiet.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

FragRed

@Dezzy Nintendo may still drop a Direct without warning like they did last year. Though they didn't do any social media teasing this week so if it does happen, it won't be just yet.

Grumblevolcano

@FragRed Wasn't the teasing last year because EA leaked that a January Direct was happening though? Meanwhile this year people are expecting a January Direct for other reasons.

@Grumblevolcano In part that was the reason, the other was because of the huge amount of replies on every single Nintendo tweet asking about the Direct.

If we somehow don't get a Direct this month, I'm sure we'll get one in February or March.

What Would W. Do?
