So I had another thought on how they could justify making another Mario Kart game on Switch. What if they made it an adventure game like Diddy Kong Racing? You would have a hub world you could explore to find coins and kart parts, with cups and missions spread throughout. That would certainly be radically different and enough of a step up from 8D to double dip on Mario Kart.
So, it’s safe to assume that we won’t get a full Direct anytime soon, but does anybody else think we could get a Mini? I think that one could happen, but I remember someone disagreed.
Heigh Ho Heigh Ho. It’s off to work (from home) I go.
I think the Isle of Armor info being a standalone trailer means announcements will continue like Paper Mario for the summer. I also think Smash info will be more like Joker than the other 4 characters of the fighters pass:
A shadow dropped video with the content being released the next day.
@Grumblevolcano I think Oragami King was Nintendo’s big game announcement for the summer. I think we’ll see multiple small announcements and maybe one more big one near the end of August.

@Grumblevolcano I agree that we're getting more shadowdrop announcements, but Isle of Armor has little bearing on that. Pokemon mainly does its own thing when it comes to news on its upcoming games, its games are never announced in general Directs (only through dedicated Pokemon Directs or other methods) and updates have been released as trailers since SM with them rarely including news in Directs. It's hard to argue that this trailer was meant for a Direct because they drop trailers whenever they want, wherever they want.
Shadow dropping will lose its impactfulness if they overdo them though. Soon people will just be like 'Eh, just another shadow drop' and attention will wane.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
@Bolt_Strike Sword/Shield was spotlighted in both the September 2019 Direct and March 2020 Direct Mini so it seems likely that it would've been in a June Direct if there was one.
I mentioned a while back that I don’t think a surprise announcement would happen until late August, but I just remembered... THE MARIO REMAKE RUMOURS!!! That will be in June, I think.

I'm pretty stoked for the PS5 stuff on Thursday, actually. Was totally down on both the new consoles until recently, but I don't know, Sony has had excellent 1st-party games since the original Playstation, so I can't wait to see what they have in store.
A little worried about that new controller, though. Looks like a mash between Dualshock and Xbox controller; I didn't think there was really anything wrong with the Dualshock except maaaaaybe a bit too much space between the sticks.
Anyway, I think we'll see something coordinated from Nintendo before the end of June that is more than just a "shadow drop" (is that the term we're using now? sorry, not scrolling back through thread lol).
Honestly, I think if we hear anything soon, it'll be 3rd party as E3 aimed announcements show up. I could see June looking something like:
1. Persona 4 Golden (rumor has it it's coming to PC, so I'm curious if it comes to Switch too)
2. Mass Effect Trilogy announced... but the Switch version has no set release date.
3. Spyro 4 announced, rumors spiral about the Switch version that will be revealed 1 year to the day after the PS5 release.
4. New Rayman
5. Bravely Default II news
6. No More Heroes III news
7. Bayonetta 3 news (big maybe)
8. Something Kingdom Hearts?
9. Megaman something something
10. Monster Hunter something something
@Collette I'm just depressed that there isn't any kind of E3 presentation for Nintendo... honestly my favorite part of the year (as far as video game announcements go)
@rallydefault At least the button placement is still the same. The Switch Pro is a bit bulkier as well, but it's a good controller, so I don't think it will be a bad controller. Just a bit of a shame to see the iconic shape be replaced for something more generic. At least the colour scheme is something lol.
@rallydefault Yeah, there're rumors that both Crash 4 and Spyro 4 are in development, being basically sequels to the original trilogy that ignore everything produced afterward, and functionally act as reboots.
