@toiletduck I really hope we do get SNES games in the future. I'd love to play the older Final Fantasy games and Chrono Trigger. As for NES games I wish they could make Duck Hunt work on a modern TV. Man I loved that game as a kid, but it simply doesn't work on flat screens.
That's because of how modern tv sets form the picture, and how the light gun worked. They might be able to use a joy con to do the same thing, but the original game was coded specifically for how the light gun worked.

Duck Hunt, Wild Gunman, and Hogan's Alley (for Wii U VC) were re-coded to work with a Wiimote.
So yeah, those can probably be re-coded to work with a Joy-Con as well.
Hello,
My mom, I and my first brother we grew up with NES. My mom especially loved Super Mario Bros., Chip n' Dale series games. So because I'am lazy son who was up till now to lazy to set up emulator, download those games and teach how launch the games will finally let play Super Mario Bros. again for her. She will love to play Super Mario Bros. again as well Mario Bros., Dr. Mario. I will be able intruduce her sequels of Super Mario Bros. to her as well, but only 3rd installment, because they decided to not add 2nd installment to this program.
I my self will enjoy those as well and as well Soccer, Excitebike, Tennis cause we had those too. I will finally be able to try out the original Zelda game, as well the original Metroid game and even Ninja Gaiden. And the other games we never owned.

@SKTTR Thanks for supplying the list! Unfortunately no turtles, that would be great with (online) multiplayer! But who knows I don't expect the Mega Man titles though, Capcom is to busy with those now (although they did appear on their own on previous VC-like systems).

Oh, in fact Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was available on the Wii VC but it was taken down. I'll add it just in case.
But since you mentioned multiplayer you probably mean Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II - The Arcade Game which unfortunately wasn't re-released so far. But seeing that KONAMI made both TMNT games for the NES, there is the possibility to release the second game as well. Keep in mind, Turtles is a franchise not owned by KONAMI, so that release was kind of special, hence it was removed from the Wii VC.
Using both joy con in the grip works fine for me, but ugh, not a fan of the setup for using a single joy con. Why the complicated 2 button setup for Start and Select when using a single joy con? Why not have SR and SL be start and Select, respectively?
I played around with a few games last night. River City Ransom is an all-time favorite of mine, so that was an easy choice for the first game to try out. Emulation seems pretty smooth. And I like how each game gets five save states.
I like the service, but I'll be happier once we get SNES games. Or better yet...GBA, DS, and GC games.

Yeah, Zelda 1 is one of those games that's both amazingly good and rage inducingly frustrating at the same time. Zelda 2 was even worse IMO due to also throwing in Castlevania style platforming (complete with unfair flying enemy spawns when you have to jump) and stupidly short attack range compared to enemies.
Amazing game that holds up very well today, but frustrating due to giving no clues about where to use bombs/the candle and incomprehensible clues regarding where to go or what to do.
I've been jumping between games. So far I tried balloon fight, baseball, double dragon, dr. Mario, gradius, ice climber, river city ransom, super Mario bros, super Mario bros 3, and Zelda. The only one I never played was River City Ransom, but from what little I played I am enjoying it. Interestingly enough, I only ever played Gradius and Double Dragon on the C64 (and DD on PC), so it's fun trying out these "new" versions.
As for the up-and-coming games, I'm looking forward to trying Solomon's Key, Mighty Bombjack, Twinbee, Ninja Gaiden, and Adventures of Lolo, all of which I never played. And of course I'll be playing Metroid again.
The one thing I like about these games is being able to save now, pick up later. I'm not using it to make up for mistakes, such as dying quite early on in Ice Climbers lol, but rather as a way to save, play another game, and come back later. I will admit it does go against the way the games used to be played, where if you couldn't save you just had to try from the start and put in a lot of time to beat it, but unfortunately sometimes I just don't have that much time.
Still debating on sharing my friend code on this site so I can play multiplayer. I don't have anyone to play these games with, and it would be fun to try some games multiplayer, such as River City Ransom.
@FaeKnight@EvilLucario Zelda 1 is my favorite game on the NES, and probably the main reason as a series I keep getting Nintendo consoles. Every time I play it though I forget that, unlike a Link to the Past, you can't walk diagonally.
I actually mapped the game back in the day using grid paper and bombing/flaming anything and everything, and taking note where it was. I actually had a binder full of game notes and maps for various games. I do like how that has changed through time, and you get subtle hints about secrets, but I always jokingly call some of today's games "hold-your-hand games" compared to games of old.
Oh yeah, I have fond memories of using graph paper to map out Metroid one room at a time cause the game's layout was confusing and often rooms looked identical. Or stumbling around the Lost Woods section of Zelda 1 for a while, not sure if I'm getting anywhere or if the boards just look identical... until I stumble across where I need to go. That alone made the map feel HUGE.
I own 10 of the currently available games already in some form and I've played all but 5 games before so there's not that much new stuff to try out but I still like having NES games on my Switch. I've been playing with my sister and I've had surprising amount of fun with the 5 sports titles I hadn't tried before.
I've also played some games by myself. I really like Balloon Fight's Balloon Trip mode. I had a really good score on 3DS and while I couldn't get one quite as high, I still did fairly well. I decided to try and beat Gradius since I've only tried it couple of times when I was a kid. The farthest I've gotten so far is stage 3. I'm not very good at shooters.
It's its, not it's.

That's further then I got last night. I didn't even reach the stage 1 boss.
One thing is for sure: I definitely need to get a Pro controller now. I don't know about anyone else, but the Joycon d-buttons are just not cutting it for NES games and I find it very hard to play old games with analog.
I totally agree. I'm happy that I have both the 8Bitdo SF30Pro and the official Pro controller for games like these. One issue though: I find it strange that I can only use X and A instead of Y and B. I'm really used to Y and B for two-button games, so it's quite hard to adopt. I've played hours and hours of Super Mario World, in which I mainly used green (y) for sprinting and yellow (b) for jumping, while only occasionally using red (a) to spin jump.

That's of course because we need those shoulder buttons for different purposes when SNES games arrive
