Topic: Need help with Collection of Mana

Posts 1 to 20 of 28

Don

I’m playing Mana 3, previous unreleased outside of Japan. I’m currently in the town with the black market that only opens at night after the passing the Amazon cave part. I talked to this girl that tells me she gets tired of setting up shop and offers this hammer item. Then she says I need to get rid of items. I sold some weapons and items but she keeps saying the same thing. How do I get rid of whatever items to get this hammer item? Any help is greatly appreciated.

@SwitchForce

I’m playing the game from Collection of Mana. They localized the Japan only Super Famicom release for the collection.

Ok that is different now. Trails of Mana is not the same as Collection of Mana. They are two different games one of which releases in 200. You need to change the Thread name to correct game.

The individual game in the collection is called Trials of Mana though. So the title isn't wrong, it just doesn't specify, but since the remake isn't out yet, it should be fairly obvious.

@Don You're title is fine, don't listen to SwitchForce. Obviously there's three games in the Collection of Mana, Trials of Mana being one of them. Considering the remake isn't even out, it's obvious which one you are talking about.

What is happening is that you have your "on hand" inventory and your storage bin. Your "on hand" inventory is what you can access during the dial menu so you'll find candies and chocolates in that section. The hammer isn't a weapon, it's considered an item so what you need to do is open the storage bin with the plus button. Then from there put stuff from the left side of your inventory into the right side to free up space in your "on hand" inventory.

Thank you very much , I can finally move forward in this game . This game ‘s inventory and equipment menu don’t seem as user friendly as other RPG games like Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. Hopefully they will make improvements for these menus in the remake.

If you look at this site then you would see the title is wrong.
This is the correct name and title to the game.
Trials of Mana Standard Edition

This is the correct name for the Thread in Question and should reflect the correct title...

Dragon Quest I, II & III (1, 2 & 3) Collection Nintendo Switch Game
https://www.shop4megastore.com/nintendo-switch-games/dragon-q...

The game in question isn't Trails of Mana. That isn't the right title.

@Don Yeah the inventory system could use some work. If you haven't played Secret of Mana yet be prepared for the worst inventory system ever made. Trials of Mana is a huge improvement over Secret of Mana, so much so that I stopped playing Secret of Mana cause I hated it so much. Trials of Mana is an incredible game, but you're right the inventory system is kind of confusing and actually getting to the menus is extremely slow for some reason.

@Chunkboi79 did you ever end up finishing trials? I know you got quite far into it and like me, disliked secret so im interested to hear what your final impressions are from an accessibility standpoint. I tend to get overwhelmed with jrpgs so I'd like to know how user friendly the game is overall.

@NintendoByNature I haven't finished it yet, but I am roughly 22 hours into it. I was training for a smash tournament for a bit, ended up placing 3rd out of 64 people. I lost to the guy that was 5th in my state, which is pretty dope. Not a bad turnout for my first tournament.

However, I love the game! The combat is fluid and you're guy is locked into a battle pose so you aren't running around seamlessly like in Secret of Mana. The story is a bit more comprehensible, and there's multiple characters with different backstories which is pretty dope. The AI is a massive improvement! My guys barely die when I am not actively controlling them, and they don't keep you from moving if they get stuck somewhere. They also attack like crazy, but there is one design flaw I noticed with the AI. If you are using a spellcaster like Angela, and you're just spamming magic, the other guys won't attack until you do an actual physical attack on the enemy/boss.

However, there are some complaints that I have. Navigation is kind of a pain, honestly my largest gripe, since there isn't a map (which I haven't gone out of my way to find it). You really need to make sure you take some screenshots of the dialog when given direction, I tend to forget what people say and they can get kind of detailed. They don't explain what the stats mean, which leads to some confusion at first. However, once you change classes the stats automatically increase to the appropriate level.

Strength - Attack Power
Dexterity - Only Applies to Hawkeyes ninja tools
Stamina - Defense
Intelligence - Has something to do with Magic
Spirit - Also has something to do with Magic
Luck - Increases amount of safes when opening a treasure chest

Great game though, great enemy designs, beautiful graphics, and fluid gameplay. Once I finish a certification course for my job I'll probably finish it up.

I think it's like other games by them, @Chunkboi79 .... Intelligence affects 'black magic', or offensive spells & spirit is for healing ones

@Chunkboi79 first off, nice job on the tourney! I play smash but by no means am I worthy of entering tournaments.

As for trials. That's good to know and reassuring. Glad the AI is an improvement. Biggest gripe I had was being stuck due to AI not getting around a tree or something. Then im getting pummeled by whoever. Tje gameplay still sounds a little hard to manage but ill use a guide i suppose. I'm still reluctant to start It right now, as I've been pretty tied up with games atm.. can't decide if i want to start soon and play the remake first.

@NintendoByNature Thanks man! It was a great time, I never realized how toxic people can be in real life. I had a guy tbag me and another kick a wall when I beat them lolz. You know that is a good point too. The remake is right around the corner. I wanted to play it before the remake so i could appreciate the improvements when I start the new one. You should be able to navigate yourself through the game pretty seamlessly, but a mini map would have been a blessing.

NintendoByNature

@Chunkboi79 oh yea I can see it getting pretty bad. Heck, it was bad enough playing Madden or smash with my best buddies and still, someone would get a little too heated. Couldn't imagine being at a tourney like that.

Yea, maybe I'll just hold off on trials til the remake, Then go back to the original. Black Friday deals are looking pretty good so I'll definitely be busy with a hand full of games.
