a friend downloaded it, handheld gameplay seems nice, but on TV is another story

too bad, i was waiting for this game hoping it would be better than NBA playgrounds, graphically it is, but for me 30 fps is definitely a no-go for me

So I take it you would have been happy for the visuals to be worse and instead have 60fps.

I love the fact that after a hard day at work I get to go pickup my 2k18 physical copy to play when i get home.... after a 2 hour download.... wtf 2k?

My copy just arrived. And the cover art had a crinkle in it and I tried ironing it out by putting a sheet of paper over it and the heat from the iron made the ink from the paper melt right onto my cover art and ruined it- it has typed ink and letters all over the front now. Ugh.

I'm ordering the Legend Gold Edition now anyways though. Screw it. I will sell this copy of the game once it arrives. I was just waiting to see if they would fix the game first because I wasn't willing to buy it if they didn't fix it. But they did and not only will it make a great collectible on switch seeing as it likely won't get very many sports games and certainly not major collector editions like this, I'll sell the VC on eBay to make some of the money back. I really just want that Shaq gear.

@Ownagedood
That's pretty normal for other consoles (I deal with it all the time with PS4/X1).

Honestly I'm really really disappointed with it thus far in my first game. Graphics are pretty crappy and movement just isn't that fluid. It's way worse than I hoped it would be. And this is coming from a guy that last played 2k on xbox 360. I thought at the very least the graphics would be the same and movement would be better. It's still early but first impression is very bad.

You not saying the switch games looks worse then 360 right?

Visually it's pretty damn clear the switch version looks nicer.

Looks incredible to me and plays smooth as butter. Everyone at my work was impressed with it today.

Started a save file in My Career for the Dallas Mavericks, and a separate save file for offline My Career. I suck but I will get better, just like FIFA.

I am really impressed with this game though. It feels like I'm playing the PS4 release on a handheld. Makes me excited for WWE 2k18

Interested in hearing from other folks who bought it. Despite all the negative press, I've been craving a solid sports sim for a while.

Ugh. Just realized they have an all-supersonics team wearing thunder jerseys. I almost can't buy it now on principle.

I mean... it's absolutely incredible. At first I was convinced FIFA 18 took the better approach of the two- it's 1080p and 60fps, and while it is missing the story mode it's otherwise very solid and a very high-quality game. At the time this game was dealing with a lot of bugs and glitches and issues.

But then they released two consecutive patches and all those issues are gone now. The game maybe a lower resolution but I honestly can't tell, and The frame rate seems super smooth to me. It is totally and utterly feature complete- I am overwhelmed with the amount of content in this game.

If you buy the physical version you can avoid updating the game and simply launch from the cart and do a quick play session. That's all you can do if you opt not to download the large update but for some people that might be enough. The quick play mode in and of itself is 10 times better than NBA Playgrounds imo. I love how you can customize everything how you like. And you can play MyCareer offline on Switch. You won't have the cut scenes but aside from that you can play the full mode offline. Every other mode is fully available off-line as well.

I can 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 or 5v5. Any players vs any players. 2KTV is super entertaining too. All kinds of footage, interviews, brand sponsored videos, etc. It's incredible. All Star Modes, all manner of online modes (if you're into that) and can now play with friends both online or locally, also split screen with single joycon, can manage teams like FIFA 18's FUT mode but with basketball players, can play games synced to what's really happening in real life, can be a general manager for a team, can play MyLeague and follow events over a span of 80 years... it's just incredibly awesome.

@JaxonH no clothing physics. Hope they can bring that in next year or EA can have it in live... assuming it comes to the switch.

@Qwertyninty

That would be nice but honestly I'm not too concerned about clothes, or physics that have to do with clothes. That would probably land at the bottom of the totem pole of important things to want. But considering the game practically has everything else maybe that's the only thing left to actually want... which speaks volumes really

@JaxonH yeah everyone is different. I didn't like the lack of them is the Wii U 2K13 and I don't like the lack of it in this version 5 years later on more powerful hardware across the board.

This game is immaculate post-update, is it not? I'm not even into sports and I'm having the time of my life with this game. Admittedly I had to pause my endeavors thanks to Fire Emblem Warriors, but I can already tell I will be playing this game for years to come (or newer annual releases if we get more).

2k are happy with switch sales

https://seekingalpha.com/article/4122006-take-two-interactive...

In addition to versions for X-Box, PlayStation, and PC, NBA 2K18 is our debut offering for the Nintendo Switch. So far, we're very pleased with the title's performance on this new platform and we anticipate continued strong demand across all platforms heading into the holiday season. Along with growth in game sales, our NBA 2K series continues to benefit from increasing engagement and recurrent consumer spending.

This is fantastic news.

Our collective support has worked. For TakeTwo, for Bandai Namco, for Square Enix, for Ubisoft, for Capcom...

Everyone but EA. Though I suspect FIFA exceeded expectations and EA wasn't planning on that. So they're waiting for the install base to grow

This isn't about collective support, this is about buying a port of a game that's missing little to no features. There's a reason why EA's port of Fifa is sitting on the store shelves collecting dust, while NBA2k has decent sales so far. People clearly value enjoying the same features as other versions over FPS.
