@JaxonH It all depends on how it plays. Personally, I'll be very curious about the PC port. It isn't the first time MH comes to PC, but it is the first time out of Japan, and it isn't Frontier we're talking about, so I hope they'll do it right.
That said, Capcom has my highest of disdains, until they rectify leaving the Western Nintendo community without a MH experience.
1 Use Google Translate to scan the text in question. Say you're at the armory looking to craft a sword. And you see materials you need and don't have. What are they? Let's find out. Scan the material
2 Copy the Japanese text from the Translate App. The translation is likely too vague to discern as is.
3 Paste the copied text into your internet search engine, followed by "Kiranico", and click search. Should look like this...
4 Click on matching search results, then toggle the Kiranico page to English via top menu or bottom options.

Ya, memorization will help but, there are SO many items, and many use same icon, then you've got low, high and G rank materials it could be as well...
People need a surefire way to decipher any material without question.
Of course this can be a huge help, especially with search function. Unfortunately, searching JP characters doesn't seem to really work

As for items and such, not having too much trouble. For high and g rank I kinda figured you'd just use other clues to figure it out. lol (such as equipment rarity and sharpness levels)

Those can definitely be used, but it won't always be clear. Rarity can fall in between where it could go either way, and not all items are the same...
But ya those are among many little ways to help discern items. But there should always be a foolproof method to ID anything. Can use other tells maybe 7 times out of 10, maybe 3 times out of 10? Idk. If a weapon requires parts from a different monster it could be tough.
Might be handy to have a cheat sheet for l the most common items. And kanji for elements, food skills to avoid (like Game changer or Unlucky Cat)...

It's a private server me and my Line Chat group made for voice chat with Splatoon 2 and some other games. I made a channel for MHXX. So anyone who imported and wants to join, there's a text chat and a voice chat channel.

Well I have the Google Translate app on my phone to help me out with certain parts, like the palico types. And since I'm using Prowler, I rarely need to run into material confusion since I just need to hunt that monster once for its equipment. xD

We'll see, just felt like bringing my server up, since a lot of the people there are also from here. Anyways, taking a small break, decided to record a Tetsucabra quest for now (was hoping to do Malfestio, but it's taking longer than I thought to get there. xD).
I only just now unlocked high rank village quests. The key quest line to unlock the 5 star urgent was long as heck. Had to do like 5 quests of various ranks from each village. But I did it. High rank village (6 star quests) here I come...
