@Qwertyninty Yeah, I guess PayDay also isn't for everyone. In fact, I myself didn't like it either.
Well, at least Paladins is free, so that makes it a bit easier to try it out without any consequences. But if you ask me, if the Switch keeps performing as it does, then I'm pretty sure that there will be more games coming, FPS games included. Even the Wii U got 2 COD's (both of which I bought), so there's still some hope left for them to return, regardless of what the companies involved say to the various media when asked about it.

@Magician Higher now that Civ 6, Mario + Rabbids and Wargroove have shown how popular turn based strategy games are among Switch owners.

@ThanosReXXX yes. I bought both the COD games on Wii U also.... that’s why the fact we don’t have one yet on Switch is infuriating. If activision doesn’t bring a COD to switch this year. They can properly F off.

@Qwertyninty Hm... yeah, I can understand the sentiment, but I think that ultimately, if they would be the only big "realistic" FPS to grace the Switch, a lot of people would buy it anyway, if they're not into the likes of Doom and Wolfenstein. To be totally honest, I was a late adopter of the Wii U, so I was able to pull the two COD's that were released on that, from the bargain bin. I had some fun with both games, but I don't think I would have paid full price for them.

And now, on the Switch, I'll probably do the same, provided that any COD game is actually going to be released for the Switch, so we'll have to wait and see. Buying stuff from the bargain bin is also giving the companies a big middle finger, so you can still do that and hold on to your principles at the same time...

@ThanosReXXX lose lose if you are a Nintendo gamer. They are almost looking for any reason not to have to support the system. I really hope these FPS games sell well on Switch.

ThanosReXXX

@Qwertyninty Well, no reason to be that glum yet, you know. Let's just wait and see. I'm not going to worry about anything potentially bad happening in the future, especially now that the Switch is doing so well, and going from strength to strength.

And number of consoles sold most definitely WILL bring these kinds of games, and MANY others to the Switch.
I mean: just look at the Wii, it got practically every Call of Duty out there, and even a couple of Medal of Honor games, so at this moment, regardless of any negative communication or non-communication from the parties involved, there's really nothing sensible to say about it yet.

If Nintendo reaches its goals in this and the next financial year, then it will be pretty damn hard for companies to keep ignoring them. Just look at how even EA is slowly warming up to them again, talking about bringing more games to the Switch. Of course, these could just be shovelware games, but this time around, I'm actually expecting there to be some good stuff among them, especially seeing as they also mention getting their Frostbite engine up and running on the Switch.

But even in a worst case scenario, I'll still have my Xbox One and my PC, so I'm good either way...

@ThanosReXXX well this is the year everyone suggest we will see the heavy hitter third party games come to switch. I know it’s less powerful than other consoles and uses a cart format. The problem is if it was branded Xbox or PlayStation you can almost guarantee more third parties would have jumped on board and got their games working on the system. Nintendo did their job in a way by having the install base. Let’s see what happens this year.

Qwertyninty

ThanosReXXX

@Qwertyninty Indeed. As for these games from other companies: most of the times, the power issue is just PR blabla. For example: if the latest Fifa can run on the Xbox 360, then it sure as hell can also run on the Switch, seeing as that is of comparable power. But essentially, it's all about money, or rather: what's in it for them.

If the install base is not there, then the risk is too high, and now that it is there, and is still growing, they'll probably want to assess if certain types of games will interest the "Nintendo crowd". Somehow, there's still this persisting rumor, and apparently not just among gamers, that people that like Nintendo games, won't really buy or play other types of games, which is of course utter BS, and companies should know better by now, especially if they're still fully willing and able to also release their games on last gen consoles...

But I have a feeling that a Direct is on its way. Don't know if it is on the 13th of February, like the rumors keep mentioning, but I don't think it's going to take much longer than that, so perhaps we'll get a little bit more info then.

@Magician I would hope Take Two's top priority would be the Civ VI expansions. I don't like how Nintendo system versions of 3rd party games always got the shortest straw when it came to post-launch support.

It'll get better, as well, with Fire Emblem, Langrisser I & II and Mutant Year Zero on their way.

There's definitely enough to get your teeth into, for a genre that really isn't that well served on any platform, except PC.

Where can i find information that Mutant Year Zero will come to Switch? or something that you know?

@TheRealAwest I thought I was the only person truly hype for modern combat until I saw your post. I’m still gonna wait for reviews before buying it but I am really liking the sound of it so far.

I an really really really hoping we will see the remastered Modern Warfare make an appearance tomorrow. Its a good compromise as it should run easily with little work compared to something like BLOPS 4 and its a well liked entry in the series. Put a £30 price tag on it and watch it sell like crazy.

@TheRealAwest thank you much for that post. Good to know there are more fans of the genre. I’m hoping modern combats gets stealth released tomorrow after the direct.

@TTgowings I would take farcry also.

I’m looking forward to this. They’ve done a pretty good job with the mobile (iOS, Android) titles.

Just hope I can pull myself away from Warframe.

First gameplay of modern combat. I’m going to purchase and support. It will be good to play a FPS on Switch. With that said not being a graphics person I think they could have done more with the hardware. I guess I don’t know what their budget was.
