Topic: Military type FPS

The switch has some FPS games thankful to Bethesda. What it doesn’t have is any military COD type FPS. A mobile game is coming which was news on this site also https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/02/smartphone_first-per... (I will be purchasing). We need more games like this. I am a big FPS fan in the COD vein. Some people hate those games but to each their own. It sucks that Reggie’s keeps giving speeches of when we bring the install base publishers will bring their games. Going to be interesting if any publishers bring their bigger FPS franchises to switch this year. Thoughts..... any other FPS fans in the house?

It's called GPU overloaded. Until the cooling and GPU in that small of a package can handle the FPS that is always going to be a issue. But if you noticed lately FPS isn't what makes a game the game. There is more the just FPS that makes one play the game.

@SwitchForce You misunderstood this completely. In this context, FPS refers to first person shooter, not frames per second. The OP is asking if any one else is a fan of military style first person shooters, as well as hoping for more FPS games on Switch.

@Qwertyninty fellow military FPS fan over here. Have personally hoped we would see Modern Warfare Remastered would make an appearance as a great way to test interest in the genre.

I would buy a COD or other military FPS for a bit of online multiplayer, if one made its way over. Not my favourite genre, but it’s always nice to have as wide a variety of games as possible on any console.

I’ll take an Unreal Tournament without hover boards, please. 😁

It's never been my #1 genre by any means, but during the Xbox 360 era I did play a lot of COD4, World at War and Modern Warfare 2. Though honestly I liked Halo 3 and Halo Reach much more in terms of FPS. But I largely burned out on the genre after Reach and MW2 and haven't played much since.

In terms of lacking genres on the Switch, I totally do think that traditional First Person Shooters are toward the top of that list. Not a whole lot there, especially compared to other genres which we seem to get new entries of on a weekly basis...

I think even just one title would make a big contribution to the Switch's library. I don't have anything against SciFi shooters coming either but there's something to be said for a real world setting with more authentic weaponry and equipment and whether it is first or third person I think it would do well.

There's lots of older games that would be a great fit for re-releases on Switch. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is one such game. You could update the garphocs and possibly also make the AI better.

@JackEatsSparrows I think mina is assuming this thread is about frames per second like SwitchForce did, even though if you read the OP this is obviously not the case.

Official trailer. Also they confirmed gyro support. I hope the game does well and I will support it. I have my concerns. I’m not sure they took full advantage of switch capabilities. Graphics don’t look much better than mobile version. Also the single player missions are short. I think they are banking on the multiplayer aspect of the game. Guess we will see what “soon” is.

@Grumblevolcano Tactical RPGs? We're not doing that badly. Mercenaries Saga trilogy, Mario + Rabbids, Banner Saga trilogy, Wasteland 2, Disgaea 1 and 5, the Shining games on the Mega Drive Collection...

It'll get better, as well, with Fire Emblem, Langrisser I & II and Mutant Year Zero on their way.

There's definitely enough to get your teeth into, for a genre that really isn't that well served on any platform, except PC.

Considering how well Civ VI sold I wonder what the chances are of Take Two porting the XCOM series to the Switch?

Not a military setting FPS but I will take all of them I can get. Hopefully this is the year of FPS on Switch.

@Qwertyninty Honest question: is your request/taste restricted to first person games? Because if it isn't, then there might be another interesting title available for you. Granted, it's also not a realistic title, but it actually IS military, so it could be something that you may wanna check out:

I've played it myself, and both the story and gameplay are pretty decent, and so is the price.

Oh, and to answer the other question: yes, I am an FPS fan. Spread across several consoles, I've got most of the COD's, Medal of Honor's and Battlefields, as well as almost any other realistic and fantasy FPS that's any good. And as you may have guessed, I'm also a fan of third person shooters.

@ThanosReXXX I know of the game. Was never able to pull the trigger. I watched a lot of gameplay videos and it didn’t look like it appealed to me. I really liked the Warframe game but it was just too complicated for me. Not the gameplay but everything else. So to answer your question.... I am not against TPS but I just enjoy FPS more.

Qwertyninty

ThanosReXXX

@Qwertyninty Fair enough. I thought it was a pretty good game, but tastes differ, so if it doesn't appeal to you at all, then I can understand you not being interested. I do agree with you that the genre as a whole is rather under-represented, but if you don't restrict yourself to military-specific ones, then there's also Pay Day, the Doom games, Wolfenstein, Paladins (which is free), and there's now also Observer.

@ThanosReXXX I have wolfenstine and doom. I bought immortal redneck also. Payday didn’t appeal to me. I guess it’s the story driven having to pull of a hiest part. Maybe it’s fun though. Tried paladins and it just didn’t click for me. Maybe I need to give it another shot.
