Pretty sure that's just their place holder listing for Metroid Prime 4 as it went up the same time as the other e3 pre-orders. They're always listing things incorrectly.
Not sure why we revived a dead thread for this. But Alex said in that recent NintendoLife video that the Metroid Prime Trilogy might be a possible place holder while they work on the new game. With Retro Studios on board, that seems to make it more likely.

Played the third game corruption on the wii - was amazing.
I would have preferred no motion controls - which the switch will address - but some of them were actually pretty good - unlocking mechanism (I think it was) where you push out out to insert then turn was pretty smart.
Wario64 posted about a listing for this on Best Buy’s employee system. Check it out on his Twitter. Hopefully get some official news soon from a Direct.
This is the longest I've ever seen a games rumor stay consistently active without a smidgeon of proof that it actually exists. It's getting completely ludicrous. Like, someday people are going to realize there's nothing here. It's been almost 2 years of rumors for a remaster/port. Not a remake, just a port with maybe updated textures.
@CurryPowderKeg79 You did no wrong. Some people (some users and some moderator ahem) are just too prone to overreact and overuse rules just to feel somehow more important than they really are but in the end all that they achieve is being rude and silly and off-topic. Is the alternative method of creating new threads for the same thing better?
It's still just rumors though. I agree with @link3710 that there doesn't seem to be any real proof. People should temper their hopes before they get crushed.

The problem I imagine is it's an obvious, inevitable port, that will happen, and it's probably finished and sitting in a drawer ready to go. It's just about when teh business incentive exists to do it. Which isn't really now. Closer to the MP4 launch.
I would say it makes more sense to release sooner rather than closer to MP4 launch. Get the initial pop when it releases then another when 4 is properly revealed and rekindles the interest in the franchise. Who knows really, these games don't interest me at all but I hope they do well commercially as it seems Metroid overall really hasn't been a stellar seller in the past.
@Agriculture Yeah, the first game is widescreen compatible on the Trilogy Wii release at least. I think the original had it, but you had to turn the option on in the menu? And they were technological marvels when they came out, they're still gorgeous today in my opinion. The use of small tight rooms both works incredibly well to create the usual Metroid atmosphere, and to allow them to push the visuals everywhere else. The gameplay and controls are also firmly in the modern era for both. There's a reason everyone just wants remasters over full remakes, the games just need that modern graphical touch (HD Textures and updated lighting) to look gorgeous again, even if the poly count isn't quite at modern levels.
I highly recommend looking up some uprezzed screenshots to see how good it looks, even without upgraded textures. I'd be perfectly fine with them just bringing straight ports over (+both Gyro and traditional control schemes for all 3 games of course)

Ok, I hope they upgrade them a bit, like how Resident Evil HD was further refined when released on PS3/PS4. I remember seeing the first game in a gaming magazine back when it was about to come out on Gamecube and it looked like a good game.
