I bought a switch for my Kids for christmas so I am new to the device.

I have a sandisk 64gb micro SD card and it is completely empty. When I place it in the switch, it tells me that there is only 3.4 gb free on it and it shows the symbol as if it is empty. So why only 3.4 gb available?

Also, if I purchase another switch, which I definitely plan to after breaking it open and playing it, it's freaking awesome! If we purchase digital copies of games, can those be placed onto multiple switches you own somehow or only for 1 console?

Thanks for any help from anyone!

Have you tried the formatting tool that comes with your switch?
Here's a link that explains how to do it: http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_...

If it still doesn't work format it with your computer before re-re-formatting it with your switch.

As for digital downloads sadly the Switch has a 1 account = 1 switch system when it comes to downloading games (unlike Sony where you can have 2 vitas). So yeah... multiple devices = multiples eshop games.
It can be really cheaper to buy mostly physical. Or try to convince Nintendo to change their ways !

I think your kids will be quite happy

Thank you for your reply! The first time I did not format the disk and this time j did reformat it with the computer. I will check your link and see if that helps.

When I use my parental controls app it says I can habe multiple switches paired with the account. Is that correct? I can use seperate systems with 1 account, but only 1 system for a downloaded game. I plan to buy physical mostly, just wasn't sure if this was a possibility !

@neufel I bet your method will work with formatting it on the switch. Fingers crossed!!

@Dj2484 For Parental controls, yes you can. But only for that. Game purchases and your own account can only be on one system at a time.

However, you can have more than one account on a system, and any account on the system can play any game downloaded by any account on that system - Parental controls permitting of course.

If you intend to download many games, I highly suggest getting a larger SD card. 128 at least, 200 or more if you can spare the cash. Most Nintendo and indie games aren't too big, but ports of games from other platforms tend to be massive, even demanding large downloads to supplement physical releases. Just FYI.
