Check out the other international eshops - you can generally find prices to beat the US dollar price if you set up a Nintendo account for another region. Not done it myself, because I'm too lazy, but there are savings to be made. Russia and South Africa seem generally to have the lowest prices.

And Nintendo first party titles have a tendency to stay full priced, especially if it's a popular game.

Steam/Origin/GoG sales.
Pretty sure E-shop has decent sales as well.
Otherwise, I recently stumbled upon "CDKeys". Which has loads of games at a reduced price. Though first party Nintendo games are still near the $60 price tag.

But keep in mind that buying a ame through Steam, Origin, or GoG means it's a PC game and thus not a Switch game

@Krull I changed my location to South Africa a while ago and never bothered to switch back. I did once use the Russian store to get Enter the Gungeon for 5 € and I think I also got Sonic Mania from there for 10. Goog prices and I don't see a reason why I should enter my real location in my Nintendo account.

I can think of a few reasons. How about "not having to pay to convert your money into currency for the region you're claiming to be in"? Or how about "Gee, it'd be nice if I could get multiplayer matches, but most people in the region I'm set to are asleep right now."
