Here's another thing; there's no time limit. The sombrero enemies (or npcs?) with the maracas remind me of both snifits and octoombas.
There is no HUD. I highly doubt that was the person actually playing. My guess is the actress was pretending to play and for this ad they just photoshopped the gameplay onto the TV.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Thanks, that convinced me that it is a free roam game and not a 'run through a tunnel'-game, which would have had zero interest from my side. You can make out several things to the sides of the run, that clearly shows you can jump on them or pick up things.
@Dezzy Maybe you're right and this is truly a new 64-type game. I'd love it (not that I would mind a 3D World sequel), but this really looks more like 3D World than 64. We need more footage, lol.
Anyone noticed there is something that might look like houses on the left side of the desert area? It's behind the bullet bill, on top of the wall. There's also a heart-like pickup on the right and something black forming on the floor all the way down on the right side on the orange ground.
That along with the characters in first shot makes it look like it's an open world with NPCs and some events taking place. Heart is either a collectible or a return to health system.
Oh, you're right. But it still does make me think of Super Mario 64 more than any other 3D Mario game, though it might not be like it as much as I think. Either way, it still looks promising from the two different areas we see lol. Didn't Miyamoto mention a new Mario game that will break series conventions like Breath of the Wild? If this is what he was talking about, then we should know more information about it at E3 2017 (I think). Though it might be announced in a Nintendo Direct or something like that along with other software for the Nintendo Switch.

@MarcelRguez Judging by the locale design, I'm wondering whether Nintendo chose to show that part of the Mario game because of Halloween or something (note the skull designs on the buildings).
God first.

What if this is a cross between Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy? Like, it plays similar to Super Mario 64, but you can Star Spin and there are zero gravity portions like in Super Mario Galaxy.
The fruit shown makes me think of Super Mario Galaxy for some reason.
Also, what are those golden rings and translucent things?

@AlliMeadow Yup, this. I don't think there's conclusive evidence to say it's one thing or the other. Maybe it's a mashup of everything in one single title.
@AlliMeadow You're right, I haven't played 3D World and I haven't played 3D Land in a long time. @MarcelRguez: I think this is possible. It could play like Super Mario 64 but smoother with stuff that came from the two Galaxy titles and 3D Land/3D World.

Like how 3D World was supposed to be a combination of 2D and 3D Mario. Maybe this is a combination of 3D World and Mario 64-style gameplay. So we're at 75% of an actual 3D N64-style game. We're getting closer
I like the 3D Land/3D World-style gameplay, so if you mix that with Super Mario 64 gameplay then I'm sold! The first time I saw Super Mario Switch I thought it looked like a multiplayer Super Mario 64.
@Octane
Actually a mix of 3D Land/World with 64/Galaxy but to a certain degree would work perfectly. Having small hub levels that branch out to more linear action-oriented sub-levels would be even better than any previous Mario game. I feel like with the last two 3D games there was no sense of exploration and discovery that was in Mario 64, but that one actually got the player to revisit the same location and events a bit too many times unfortunately.
