I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I think they should let Mario Kart rest for a while. Total overload with 7 and 8.

Out of an item box? I can't imagine why someone would want to get coins, especially when they need something else like a Banana or a Shell.

Oh, I thought of something else they need to do. Redo how they unlock kart parts, because unlocking random ones after reaching a certain coin total makes absolutely zero sense. They should have a shop instead.

The point of the coins to me isn't about getting what I want, but making me want something more. It is like when 1st place just got bananas, it use to be that weapon that everyone hated. Now that has transferred to the coins and the bananas are a desired item. It gives a feeling of suspense. I also use Coin items are insurace. If i get hit then I can normally drive into 1 of the 3 coins that I drop then use the item to get 2 more and be back at 10 coins. It isn't a good item but not all items need to be. If people complained about items because they aren't what I wanted then we would be in games with nothing but triple red shells and star power

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with a valueless item. Part of the point of the item box was that sometimes you get something great and sometimes you get something useless. Coins are basically as useless as the ink-blot item and that's fine. You wouldn't want a race that was purely the powerful items, it'd become more of a roulette wheel than a race. Having some well on the other end of the spectrum adds a little bit more skill to the race.

What I never like are items which are an actual negative if you get them. Like the lightning cloud in Mario Kart Wii. If you are in distant second and get that thing? All it's going to do is improve the lead the person in first has.....

I'm not really a fan of the coins in general. I was okay with it with the Super Nintendo and GBA Mario Karts, but not in Mario Kart 7 or probably even 8. (I haven't played 8 enough to decide) There isn't even a way to turn off coins in 7, even the GBA one had that option in the quick run mode...

Not a fan either. They take the focus of the game off of racing and onto trying to aim your character at the coins.

Even without coins as an item box item, there are still plenty of frustrating moments in terms of item getting.

Like when you're in the peloton in 5-12th places, and EVERYONE gets trip shrooms at the same time. How annoying and frustrating is that? Or when you're the only one that gets a single shroom and everyone else got trips or super shrooms. I think the coin is a fine item as a pick up, lying on the course itself, but as an item from an item box, it's absolute shenanigans.

ALSO! Can they fix how long it sometimes takes for the system to pick at item for you? I was playing last night online and I counted to 7 seconds before the little carousel stopped spinning (only, of course, for it to stop on a coin). I don't get why it takes so long sometimes, but I feel it has to do with people and bad connections, because it didn't happen until this one guy joined our group, and as soon as he joined everything seemed to take longer.

It would be far easier for Nintendo to release a special edition version of Mario Kart 8 on NX than to push forward with Mario Kart 9 (which wouldn't be ready until 2018-ish). They could include all of the DLC up to that point, turn on new effects with the NX GPU, give it chat options, and introduce a level editor.

What I'd like to see in Mario Kart 9 is a return to focus on karting (wheels only), Goldeneye-esque deathmatch levels, and long tracks that go from point A to point B (taking half an hour to reach the finish).

2018ish isn't an unreasonable enough time frame that they would need a release of 8 as a stopgap. 8 released on Wii U at around the same point in the lifespan.

I've always thought that the Blue Shell shouldn't be able to appear on the last lap/segment of a race or hit during jumps over gaps and long flying segments. They could spawn it more often if they needed it to continue serving its purpose. Also, (I'm not sure in 8's case) allow for better control over what items appear in a race (not just Mushrooms only, shells only, bananas only, but actual control over each individual item).

They should just straight up steal Adventure mode from Diddy Kong Racing. Or something. Just add more content. Seriously, after the last two games I'm worried about the series being kind of a rip-off with the amount of content it has compared to any other game in the genre. In retrospect people should've been way harsher to Mario Kart 7 in particular. I mean, Mario Kart 8 certainly put quality over quantity which I frequently appreciate, but it is a bit ridiculous, especially when compared to Smash Bros. I dunno, maybe I would like it more if the unlock system was more like any of Sakurai's games.

As for my suggestion, under the assumption that we'll still get a handheld and a console, I think they should get one team to remake Double Dash (while adding some new tracks) since everyone seems to want that and then make the BIG Mario Kart for the console so that it has a lot of time to get the most amount of content it can.
