Topic: Mario Kart Acceleration Switch Lite

I purchased a Switch Lite for my grandson. When he tries to play Mario Kart on it, his karts auto accelerate from the start of the race. I tried it on my regular switch and don't have the same issue. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Are there settings to turn this off? I wasn't able to locate any. He says he has not experience problems on any other games he has played. I'm wondering if the unit may be defective. Any assistance on this is greatly appreciated!

Auto-acceleration and smart steering are features of the game targeted towards new players; his console isn't defective. From Play Nintendo's site: "Auto-Accelerate is new to the Mario Kart series of games, making the vehicle automatically accelerate to the fastest speed possible. You can turn on this option when customizing your vehicle by pressing + or – and then pressing R, or by pressing R on the pause menu during a race."
