I want all four cars from the original fzero please. Personally I'd be happy if Mario Kart 9 was basically like smash ultimate. All the tracks from previous games with other Nintendo franchises added and sure why not some third party guests like sonic and crash.
Yes, those games are more "arcade", more satisfying and MK8 and MK8DX feel more automatic and plain. Even the gliding and underwater sections don't offer anything special, it's like the vehicles feel the same all the time.
@sixrings Heck yeah, as much as I like driving the Blue Falcon in MK8, the Fire Stingray would be my main vehicle if the original four F-Zero vehicles are going to be in MK9. I'd be real happy to see myself unlock it!
It feels pointless to even fantasize something that won’t come true but I feel like this Nintendo racing game homage thing has potential. I’ll be making mockups on DKR, F-Zero, and Kirby’s Air Ride and you guys give feedback on if you’d pay money for that in MK9.
Imagine this:
Diddy Kong Racing Pack
*2 cups
*4 characters
*5 karts
*1 glider
Giant Banana Cup:
DKR Star City
DKR Walrus Cove
N64 DK’s Jungle Parkway
GCN DK Mountain
@Yellowtails A Double Dash mode for battle modes makes a lot of sense because you could drive with a friend/family member the same kart. Also, that game includes a lot of options for customising rules, that should come back as well.
As much as I would love to see some of the things people are suggesting in this thread for the next Mario Kart, I think the massive sales success of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will tell Nintendo that whatever they may add to the next instalment, they will play it very safe. They won't change things up too much just add one or two new basic gimmicks in place of, or in addition to what's already in Mario Kart 8. Though I would personally like the idea some have mentioned of having every single course in the series make a return kinda like an Ultimate game.
This is going to be seen as one of the "don't fix what isn't broken" series moving forward seeing how well it's currently selling. And with that being said, the name will certainly remain Mario Kart and not become Nintendo Kart. The Mario brand obviously sells to the masse and they all know the name Mario Kart.

I could see a Double Dash mode in the VS mode customization section. A story mode wouldn’t even need to be very complex for it to be good either. I hope they add something like that in.

I would love to see a return of the Double Dash style, but as a distinct mode instead of the whole game!
Mainly like I said back in 2018, I want to see the roster of racers become like Super Smash Bros instead of strictly Mario characters with a handful of extras.

I'll repost the image I made in the Xenoblade thread. This is what I want in MK9. The Xenoblade series has so many incredible environments that would work well for tracks in MK. Bionis Leg would be the best, but many others would work too.
Any retro track wishes? I think there are only three definite tracks: N64 Wario Stadium, 3DS Maka Wuhu (there’s a whole pattern involved that’s been in place since Wii, but they might not even follow it for 9 so it might not be definite but I’m going to say it is for now, even though Nintendo does what they want so it’s unpredictable), and GBA Rainbow Road. What other retros do you guys want to see?
For me, this would be a perfectly balanced lineup:
SNES Vanilla Lake 1
N64 Wario Stadium
GBA Boo Lake
GBA Rainbow Road
GCN Mushroom City
GCN Bowser’s Castle
DS Figure-8 Circuit
DS Shroom Ridge
Wii Toad’s Factory
Wii Dry Dry Ruins
3DS Shy Guy Bazaar
3DS Rock Rock Mountain
3DS Maka Wuhu
WiiU Sweet Sweet Canyon
WiiU Electrodrome
WiiU Cloudtop Cruise
@Dezzy God, I would love a Xenoblade track in Mario Kart - and I would love MK9 to feature a broad range of games like Xenoblade - instead of being limited to Mario only. (Or Mario plus a couple other formerly DLC tracks for Zelda, AC and F-Zero)

I was hoping MK9 wouldn't take too long but MK8 is still selling like hotcakes so I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo releases MK9 close to the end of the Switch lifecycle
Just release Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC. More tracks, More Karts, More franchises. Include that DLC with all new purchases of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe not to split the user base.
@SuperSpaghetti Wario Colosseum. Wario Colosseum needs to happen yesterday, that track would be so much better with mechanics like gliding and antigravity
Also wouldn't mind seeing Rock Rock Mountain again.
I think it’s time to stop including only 32 tracks. Deluxe did 48 in the box but I think we can go higher. 64 tracks, 32 new, 32 retro, 16 of those retro tracks being those that have already been used, and DLC to add even more tracks. Like Smash Ultimate for Mario Kart tracks. I bet they could even add Tour and arcade tracks, I’m sure Bandai would let them.
