Like previous games, there would be a new gimmick. This time zero gravity. When in zero gravity, you can can move around like you were flying however, if someone hits you while in the air, you would fall down to the racetrack below.

Here are the new tracks:

Mushroom Cup
Mario Kart Stadium
This giant stadium with the cheering crowd will really get you ready to win!
Toad Town
Race through the peaceful Toad Town with all the Toads wanting you to win!
Kameks Magic Tower
Escape the tower, but dodge Kamek's magic tricks!
Skyscraper City
Race above the crowded streets in the heights of the city!

Flower Cup
Peach's Castle
Race around the grounds and through the beautiful Peach's Castle!
Daisy's Canal
Follow the canal with the sun setting all around you!
Coconut Island
Race through the trees and on the beaches on this tropical island!
Mario Arcade
Pass through the different locations of Mario's past like Layer Cake Desert by going into the arcade machines!

Star Cup
Yoshi's Island
Take on off road adventure on this yoshi shaped island!
Tree Top Cruise
Race above the tree tops in this forest location!
King Boo's Mansion
Take care in King Boo's Mansion... the track might not be what it seems...
Comet Observatory
This out of space race will take you around the paths of the Comet Observatory!

Special Cup
Moonlit Mountain
This night time race will see you climb up the rocky mountain and take an adventurous path down!
Airship Decent
Race across the different airships as they try to get back to Bowser Castle!
Bowser Castle
Race through the tunnels and grand rooms of this lava filled castle!
Rainbow Road
Race across the rainbow and different planets as you take in your surroundings!

It would be lame going back to 16 courses. At least 32 is my expectation for MK9 (it has been present for the last 10 years)!

Well, this brings up an interesting point. Should anti-gravity and everything that was present in MK8 return or would you be fine if some mechanics didn't come back? I'd rather see new mechanics replacing old mechanics than more and more gameplay mechanics added to every new game.

I think Anti Gravity, gliding and underwater, but maybe add more twists with the underwater as its a bit boring. Bikes and ATVs would return and would remain with 12 racers.

Submarines and motorboats! And change up the items when underwater, instead of shells have bullet bills and homing BBs. Although they'd need to distinguish it from the regular BB powerup.

They really need to mix up the gameplay formula on the next one or I ain't buying (and then someone will probably get it for me for Christmas ). I am all Mario-Kart-ed out; like, the dlc and 200cc for Mario Kart 8 was great, but I'm so burnt out I've only played it for a few short hours.

And I don't mean add a new gimmick. For the purposes of my argument none of the Mario Karts have mixed up the gameplay formula since Double Dash, and even that wasn't too much of a mix-up; although, the mission modes in DS were cool.

@shaneoh: that would make an actual difference to the water gameplay! I don't see why they really added underwater (except to make the causes different) because it doesn't make the actual gameplay any different.

If they didn't do Electrodrome as a retro track I'd be surprised. Everyone loved the fart outta that one for ages, and I still enjoy it every once and a while. I REALLY like the idea of Toad Town if it's in reference to Paper Mario (N64) but otherwise I still support it, it's shown so many times in the Mario series I'm surprised we haven't had that show up yet.

Electrodrome was one of my top 5 course in MK8 and I'm pretty sure that a lot of other people liked it as well. It was different to the other tracks. I think that after the different places called Toad Town in the different games they should actually try to make it in Mario Kart (mostly because I love Toad!) but also because the different ones in the games are good and they could get some ideas from them but also create new ideas.

Not really sure about everything else, but I definitely want to see Wario Colosseum and Rock Rock Mountain/Alpine Pass show up as retro tracks.

Oh, and as for returning elements, I'd like to see antigravity stay.

Solid retro tracks selection though Luigi Circuit (Wii) brings back horrible memories of that track being largely overplayed online. Seriously, it almost makes Splatoon's choice of 2 stage rotation every 4 hours reasonable in comparison.

I do find Luigi Circuit a bit boring, but it is a good starter track for beginners.

I want the next Mario Kart to basically be Mario Kart 8-2. The anti-gravity was awesome and there is still so many more cool things they can do with it. They can have normal courses as well, but there is no reason not to bring the anti-gravity back. If they want to overhaul something, they would bring back 2 people in a kart like double-dash or further change driving underwater.

Mario Kart for NX should be a return to basics. No Gliding, swiming, anti-gravity areas. No Kart customization. Just pick your character and go. Let the next handheld or home console Mario Kart have all those features. The NX Mario Kart should be more like an enhanced version of Mario Kart DS.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
