I have Mario Kart pre-ordered for the Switch. Only one version of the game is listed, but it would seem like a no brainer for Nintendo to put out some sort of special edition with some extras. Has anyone heard talk of any editions besides standard?
It would be kind of pushing it if they did a Limited/Special edition when Wii U owners are being asked to buy the game again for new stuff if they want, especially when the Wii U has a Blue Shell Limited Edition.
Though it would not surprise me if they create some new DLC for this edition....
@Angelic_Lapras_King As someone who bought the Wii U at launch and supported it the whole way, I'm having trouble justifying buying Mario Kart 8 again. Nintendo owes me more than selling me a new console and asking me to buy a game I've already played.
Yeah true, but at least its not like the nightmare rumor of dozens of Wii U ports (So far anyway) leading up to the Switch reveal and January presentation, or the many "HD Remasters/ports" that plagued the start of the PS4/XBONE's lives.
I was wondering the same thing. I skipped on the Mario Kart 8 Limited Edition as I didn't consider it worthwhile spending over $40 more for a stupid blue shell ornament.
If a special edition was on the cards, you'd think that they would have announced it by now though. A themed Joy-Con bundle (with wheels?) would be a fantastic buy.

I'm in the same boat in terms of what I bought, but dude, I'm all over this. That they finally came to their senses and put the real Battle Mode back in is reason enough for me to get this. I still played MK8 on my Wii U right up until I bought my Switch, so this was a no-brainer to continue on with more functionality. Can't wait for holding two items and getting the Boo item back, as well.
And I know most people around here don't feel the same way, but I still have my fingers crossed for further DLC tracks. I think they'll do it if Deluxe sells well, especially if we're not going to see a MK9 for a few years.
Yeah still wondering if I've done the right thing preordering as I feel I've got everything out of MK8 I can (used all DLC) but don't think I can turn down portable HD Mario kart
