Topic: Main color of the NX?

Ok I need to explain this.

What I mean with main color is the color on the boxes and the logo's of consoles
for instance: Xbox: Green PS: Blue WiiU: Cyan (light blue) Wii: White

And what I want to know from you guys is what color will be Nintendo NX' main color?? or what will you like to see as a color?
I'm thinking about red or that kind of metallic purple (Dont know why).
Maybe even just Silver (would be great of the console looks like a modern NES)(Ok that's my favorite ;p)

I imagine Nintendo will go with any colour but white, if only to distance the new hardware away from the Wii and Wii U.

I want the boxes to be purple. Purple is my favorite color!
The console should also be that color. I'm tired of these black / white consoles.

@Emperor-P: IKR? I'am thinking about it since they mentioned NX. I feel it is important becuz a ''kiddy color'' can instantly hurt the device. I would like Red or Silver (or both ) And i feel that Nintendo wants to step away from White and Cyan (colors of the wii and wiiu) (for obvious reasons)

although a Orange with Black design always looks cool Imo

Since when are certain colours considered ''kiddy'' or ''mature''? What has become of this world?

@Idunno123: That depends on how you define 'kiddy colour'.

I remember when the GameCube was released, critics and fans alike were confused about why Nintendo would release a purple console, and believed it was being targeted towards a younger audience based solely on the colour. This of course wasn't true, but the purple made the console look very original, though it hurt Nintendo's image.

The Wii changed that by being a clean design that fell into the background of your living room, appealing to audiences of all ages. The Wii U suffers an identity crisis by including some of these design cues (because of the compatibility), but never the less the design hasn't done Nintendo any favours; their attitude smells of over confidence in repeating success.

Frankly, I don't see Nintendo returning to any 'bright' primary colours for the NX at launch. Sometimes these things can be pulled off, and it worked for the GameCube because it looked more like a wonderful toy that vied your attention. The Wii worked oppositely because it didn't look like a toy, and offered more than just traditional gameplay. The NX, on the other hand, could well take cues from Nintendo's earliest industrial design in a bid to appease older and younger core games. Not long before he passed, Iwata was quoted as saying that he wanted Nintendo to "return" to some of its older practices, but to do that they need to seriously rethink how they brand their consoles. The Wii is legacy; it's time for change.

@Bolt_Strike: While true, unfortunately if there's enough people who have the same opinion about the color that it affects the console's public image and therefore sales, then it's a problem. It's really stupid, but true.

colors have always held major significance, a simple mind will deduce something is childish based on bright colors. i feel it'll be white because white is neutral, the NX units will be phones/phablets, portable units they want to get into the hands of all kinds of people. i guess the smart thing to do would be to have black and white.

if you know anything about nintendo you know they put things out there and learn from how they work and then most of the time use the idea later. face plates is probably one of those. nintendo fans are big on customising and collecting and i'm sure nintendo will capitalise on this. we are seeing a lot of phones come out too with all these different skins to make it feel like you own a unique phone (when of course you don't), the success of the face plates for New 3DS could be a sign. they could have all the basic colors and franchises to start off with. nintendo definitely know they can make money out of customisation and it would be cost effective as the unit would only have to be one color or even no color, just with a customisable skin.

If it is a console I don't want a hard/bright color like red or pink because it would just stick out. If it is a handheld then any color could work. If it is a hybrid then I think a basic color like black, white or dark blue would fit.

Also how in god's name is Xbox green hardcore? Green's a very bright and casual color.

They advertised it as futuristic technological green.

You know, back then bright green on solid black meant serious business.

Obviously it needs to be translucent Atomic Purple.

Every color needs a radical adjective to impress the kidz.

Black and white are definitely needed to make it sell. They can introduce new colours after a few months after it's initial release, hopefully red, blue, purple, pink, grey, and yellow. They will also introduce special editions.

Forget box color. What font do you think they'll use?
