Topic: Legend of Zelda Vs Horizon Which is Really More Realistic?

I laughed when they didn't show Aloy doing a fancy dive which she can do but they showed you Link doing it.

I bet Breath of the Wild would have performed much better if there was no physics engine. Horizon has the better resolution, better frames and graphics, but BOTW has the better combat, has more polish (years of delay tends to do that) and those physics are great.

But I enjoy both games immensely, they're very different games though, obviously.

"Realistic" Displaying certain aspects that are found in the real world.

Horizon = Taking down robot dinosaurs with a bow and arrow.
Breath of the Wild = Being catapulted into the air while holding a leaf while jumping over fire. (I haven't played, thought I saw a video of that)

Umm, realistic?

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Hate to be pedantic, but since that is the subject, it's probably actually more realistic for grass not to all burn down like that.
Burning live grass and trees is quite hard to do. You tend to need it to be either dead or in a very dry/hot climate. There's too much moisture in them otherwise.

It's dangerous to go alone! Stay at home.

Zelda is more believable, Horizon is more realistic.

They're fairly different games aimed at completely different audiences.

Zelda's environments also aren't nearly as visually detailed as Horizon's.

The games clearly focused on different things. Horizon, from what I understand, has exciting set-pieces and is unbelievably visually detailed. Oh, and an absurdly well-crafted photo mode as well. Zelda, on the other hand, crafts a fully interactive open world with multiple interacting gameplay systems.

I prefer Zelda's approach, but I am looking forward to eventually playing Horizon as well. It doesn't always have to be a contest. You are allowed to like both games.

Why is this even a thing? Ofcourse Zero Dawn is much more realistic. You can't climb up any wall like Spiderman, you can't glide through the sky on a bed sheet, and you can't just set forests ablazing with fire. So its no surprise Zero Dawn trys being a much more realistic game.

@patbacknitro18 Just to pull you up on one point you can set forests ablazing with fire. It's called a Forest Fire.

I hope the PS4 pro gets reduced at Christmas. I do want to pick one up as my secondary console.

@GrailUK
I'm going to keep my regular PS4 as long as Sony holds good to their promise of not developing games only for the Pro. When Scorpio comes out I MAY get that, but Microsoft has to show some exclusives that aren't also on the PC (or other consoles for that matter). Because with that much power and no exclusives, I'll just take my PC at the end of the day.

@rallydefault Ye...what has Microsoft got planned for Scorpio...VR and holograms surely!

@GrailUK
I'm not big on VR at all, but I have to say, some of their HoloLens stuff looks pretty cool. We'll see. I do think Microsoft could do VR the best out of any of the console companies, though. Ever better than Nintendo. They have more experience with tech in general due to the nature of their company. Will be interesting to see.

@GraveLordXD I done the same,3 wasted for me as well.I only had 6.I thought to myself,maybe it's because I used the axe to spark them.Then it dawned on me,it's because it's raining.I then tried to spark one indoors but that didn't work either.Went back outside and it had stopped raining.If I had just waited 2 minutes I would have still had half of my flint stock.

Obviously the one you can get without having to buy a new console is better. That's what these discussions ultimately come down to. So presumably there's a large audience of people who have a PS4 who are going out of their way to say that they made the right choice not getting the system with Zelda on it. And the people who just dropped hundreds of dollars on a Switch are going to say the reverse.

But with that said..... metacritic is a thing. I think the most objective thing we can say is that both of them are great games but Zelda has reviewed better. So for what it's worth I think it's fair to say that people on this forum are more likely to be on the right side of things. In this case at least.

I honestly don't know why graphics comparisons are made like this, both games have different graphical fidelities and are realistic in their own right. Zelda has certain art style, reminiscent of wind waker, with its charms and compelling story telling that in BOTW has absolutely drawn my attention to its compelling story and wonderful characters, where i have spent 65+ hrs enjoying the game. In BOTW the variety of intricacies such as cooking, mining, harvesting, crafting and hunting adds to the realism to that game - it adds to the escapism of the adventure.

On the other hand Horizon has higher graphical fidelity and physics; but from what i have played (15 hrs) is enjoyable, yet not as compelling as BOTW. Maybe its the Zelda charm in BOTW, but Nintendo switch games should be judged within their own right as a hybrid console and should not be directly compared against with ps4/xb1 consoles.

Ive played both and I would say the only thing that I don't like about Horizon is the god awful wooden acting when you are talking to other characters. They need to take a page out of Uncharted for its acting

Octane

@twindragon Don't think it's really fair to compare a linear game with an open-world game. Most of the work spent on Uncharted was probably the mo-cap and VA, I don't think that's feasible in an open-world game like Horizon. Compared to other open-world games though? I think Horizon is up there in terms of VA, definitely not bad for its genre.

@Octane yeah this is true. much more talking then in uncharted. Just like in mass effect or witcher 3. I have never really enjoyed the talking heads in those games. I actually preferred reading the story at my own pace in older rpgs but you can't really get away with that in these more realistic games. Right now I am playing the witcher and I find myself skipping a lot of the talking and getting into the playing of the game.
