Just wanted to share a repair I recently carried out on my left joycon with you guys. It was a problem with a release day joycon so was obviously out of warranty.
The sl and sr buttons stopped working (everything else still worked, except the light indicating which player you are).
With not much to lose decided to look for a YouTube video and see if I could order a spare part online and fix it.
To cut a long story short, I was able to fix the joycon with a bit of effort and save myself about 60 odd quid. The spare part I ordered came to 7 quid.
My point is this. Give it a go if you’ve got a broken joycon and got the patience to deal with a fiddly job. Cheaper than buying a new set and quicker than sending it to Nintendo.

@Bevinator Don't want to kill your buzz, but I made what was probably the same repair on my launch day joy con for the grand sum of £1.17. There was a couple of weeks wait for the part to arrive from Asia, but I wasn't in any hurry.
Well done for the DIY fix though, it's satisfying isn't it?

It is satisfying. I might have to order direct from China (I’m assuming) next time by the sound of it though!

Glad to hear im not the only one this has happened to. my day one Right joycon has just started the same fault so gunna take him apart tonight and see what i need to fix it
