Topic: Jump Force for Switch?

I watch a good helping of anime and for years there had been Shonen Jump crossover games made for the DS and Playstation consoles. I was hoping that this game would just be released on every console so there wouldn't be anyone left out but of course the Nintendo console gets the short straw by not receiving a port.

After seeing a petition on Change.Org for a Switch port, it made me think that maybe Bandai Namco is doing the DB FighterZ approach for this. See if the game is successful, listen to the number of fan requests from Switch users, and then decide whether or not to port it.

Considering the Switch version did pretty well, who thinks that the dream of a Anime Smash Bros. has a decent chance of a port? I sure think it will but probably because I'm dying to make a Hunter X Hunter/Jojo tag team.

@John_Koshiro I hope they port it to Switch by next year. I want JoJo on a Ninty home console.
Unless they are just asking for what the fans want just like they did for One Piece: World Seeker and Project Z. We’ll just have to wait and find out.

@GyroZeppeli Yeah, I kind of wish that on titles likes this, they would already have a port being made, announce it the same time as other platforms, and at least have it come at a later date.

I remember someone mentioning that there's more Switch players in Japan than Xbox One so it really seems like that they should make one or it's a missed opportunity for them.

@John_Koshiro But worldwide there are more XO players. I can’t blame them, but I would think the weeb audience on XO is smaller.

@GyroZeppeli, the XO version probably comes down to the fact that porting between PS4 & itself is easier than to Switch, and that they're banking on the prominent Dragon Ball & Naruto representation to be enough to pull in just enough of the mainstream (even if they don't know what a Yu Yu Hakusho or JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is).

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

John_Koshiro

@RR529 Oh yeah, I wanted to mention how they are placing too much emphasis and representation on Dragon Ball, Naruto, and One Piece. That's one of two aspects the game that annoy me, the other being the generic sounding story but I totally get why they are doing these things this way.

Maybe in the future, we'll get some DLC with some Ant characters from HXH or maybe something with Gintama.

They say that switch cant handle it, but nvm the fact that there are much bigger games currently released on switch, and even bigger ones are coming,im not saying that jump force could run on low spec system, but the requirements aren't that high compared to other games like doom, mortal kombat 11,so if switch can handle them we could easily get jump force port without big downgrades.

It uses the U4 engine. It can be ported to Switch if Bamco want to put in the money and/or resources. So I wouldn't be shocked if Virtuous, Panic Button, or Iron Galaxy were contracted to do it. Early to mid 2020 if Bamco thinks it would be profitable.

@John_Koshiro By the time the game was realesed Bandai Namco "played safety" with PS4 and XBOX1. Now that switch is a big deal and the install base is pretty higher maybe we'll see a port soon. Finger cross.
Btw just take a look to the japanese hardware charts here in nl and you'll see exactly whats going on with the XBOX1 in Japan

While the source material is no console-exclusive material by any means, don't let the previous instance of Shonen Jump crossover games on Nintendo hardware fool you. Unless the game's graphics get a severe and complete overhaul, this game is just not fit for the Switch.

That is, of course, unless - again - we get Panic Button on board. In which case the game will be out by this holiday season.

@AlexSora89 I'm not sure about that. Like @Magician said, Both DB FighterZ and Jump Force run on the same engine and I think Wolfenstein 2 and MK 11 are more demanding games than this. On top of that, Doom Eternal is running on an engine that succeeds the engine Doom (2016) ran on and it is still being ported to the Switch, although Panic Button is porting the game while it is in development this time.

We'll just have to wait and see. If third-party support goes on like this, I think Spyro on Xbox One will be the last of my impulse-driven purchases.

I fired up my copy of the game for the first time yesterday. I think if you're a fan of Shonen Jump you'll find some enjoyment here. It nostalgically reminds me of Dragon Ball Z - The Legend for PS1, the game is chunky, both gameplay wise and performance wise. Most definitely not the best in the arena fighter genre.

The game is flashy and over the top. The experience is a bit like watching live fireworks, only less coordinated. But you know what? That's alright. Not every fighting game needs to be hardcore competitively viable to qualify as being worthwhile.

As a fanboy dream line up game this game looks great but I expect it will go on sale for a massive discount at some point so I will wait till then.

@jump

Oh yes, I definitely do not recommend spending more than $15-$20 for this.

I traded my copy of AC:NH for this, so no money was spent.

And the more I play JF the more that feels like an even trade.

@Snatcher Yeah, this thread aged badly. I hoped Namco and Spike Chunsoft had learned from the last Shonen Jump game but, clearly, they repeated the same pattern while having the audacity to have marketing hype it up as if it was going to light the world on fire.
