So recently I just noticed that my left control stick isn't as responsive, I found out while on the main menu. Mainly when moving up or down, there's a split-second delay and sometimes it won't even go up. It isn't TOO bothersome when playing games on it but it could get worse. Is this actually the control stick, or that wireless signal issue I've been hearing about last year? I'm just wondering if I should send it to Nintendo or try to fix it myself if it's the issue that can be solved with foam. (...of course I would have to find the foam, but yeah. >_>) Right Joy-Con is perfectly fine, though, the left one i don't know what's wrong with it exactly...

Did you already check Nintendo Support yet? Also try contacting them first before attempting to fix it yourself.

....After testing, it seems that when the line of sight between console and Joy-Con is impeded, the console has huge problems reading the input of Joy-Con L. I’ve tested this myself in the console’s analogue stick calibration options and it’s clear that even by simply placing my hand over the controller the Switch has real trouble tracking the analogue stick input.

Nintendo has acknowledged the problem, and now has a fix:

“A manufacturing variation has resulted in wireless interference with a small number of the left Joy-Con. Moving forward this will not be an issue, as the manufacturing variation has been addressed and corrected at the factory level. We have determined a simple fix can be made to any affected Joy-Con to improve connectivity.”

I'd just prefer to ask elsewhere, since they'll probably just say "send it in for repairs" right off the bat or something. And I'm really low on money, I was also asking because it's just the stick itself (regardless of where it's at compared to the Switch), and nothing else. Buttons work perfectly fine.

...Guess i'll try this, then...
EDIT: Looks like the control stick is just messed up then, it didn't work.

...I went to the calibration settings and re-calibrated both just to compare. The left stick has trouble when pushing up, the cursor makes to the top slowly, and when it does it doesn't even go all the way. Of course the right controller works perfectly...

Ugh...T.T
Figures...well that's not happening right now since I have little money. There has to be a way to fix this...bleh.
EDIT: Well at least it doesn't affect my games TOO MUCH...but it does feel like it's slowly getting worse. I'm guessing this is why I sometimes take damage in Thumper even though I was trying to jump those spikes...lol.

Can't you just do a return through the store you bought it from?

I have exactly the same issue on my left yellow joy-con. The grey ones I got with my Switch are still fine - but I really like the yellow ones! If I spin the left stick around a few times, it loosens up and becomes responsive again, but it starts to get stuck again after a while. Fine for Xenoblade, just about (I did once walk off a cliff because it wouldn't stop moving forward), but a pain for precision platformers and fighters if I don't want to use the d-pad.

I have exactly this problem. I got the Switch less than a year ago from Amazon; would Nintendo repair it for free as it's still under warranty, or does that only apply if I bought it from them directly?

@Dogorilla
As long as it's under a year old then Nintendo will repair it for free regardless of where you bought it, with free shipping too.

I sent my joycon off about a week ago and today they've said that its been fixed and is on its way back. They've always been helpful, unlike Sony who actually laughed at me after they bricked my PS3 and I complained about them asking me for $90 to fix it.

OK, I've decided I'm sending my joy-con in... "Luckily" it's the yellow joy-con I bought in July rather than the one that came with my Switch I bought at launch, so it's still within the warranty. It's been drifting for about six months, so really I should have done it ages ago, but it's only getting worse. It's a hassle, but at least I have a spare pair.

@CaPPa That's good to know! I've heard a lot of positive things about Nintendo's customer service.

Up and down on my left grey joycon takes a second to crawl fully up or down on calibration screen. Very bad for Gungeon. Bought it launch day, so no free fix for me, but I have a second set of neon noycons and a pro controller, so not overly concerned. Just annoying as it had a cool zelda skin on it that matches my right grey joycon and switch. 😋

@Alikan
You could swap the casings over so they match. Im not sure what they charge for repair, but if you knew someone with an in warranty grey Switch you could get them to send the joycon in for you as Nintendo uses the console serial number to check the warranty.

@CaPPa sadly the only other switch users I know also bought theirs on launch day and I'm one of the sinister people that used stickers, not cases. Don't mind if it messes up the plastic finish underneath as I won't be seeing it. 😆
