Topic: Issue with TV automatically switching inputs

I, as well as many others, have been experiencing this issue since day one. Basically if I leave the switch on standby and docked, the TV will automatically switch to the Switch input randomly. I know this is not a TV issue because searching the online forums has shown that people with all different kinds of TV are having this issue. Why is the Switch sending signal to the HDMI port while it's sleeping? This gets very annoying. See the following links for additional reference. Has nintendo acknowledged the issue? I would really like this issue to be fixed. Anyone else having similar issues?

No problems here either. If I stick it in the dock while on it will switch but not randomly like that. I like the fact that if my tv is off and I turn my switch on my tv will also turn on. Lose the remote or miss place is not a problem.

there are people who have reported the same issue with Sony and Vizio TVs as well though. I am thinking it's only recent TVs that have function to automatically switch input when a signal is detected

Mine is a 4k Samsung and the model is like 2 years old. I can see how this would be annoying. Are you getting a strong enough internet signal? If for some reason it's dropping and picking it back up that might cause a switch over.

I have a 2016 model of Hisense 55" 4KTV. No issues here.

If I dock my Switch, it will automatically turn the TV on and switch to the correct input. Or if I hit home on the Joycon while it's docked it will also turn the tv on and switch to the correct input. But never randomly.

There is a setting for most TVs for HDMI CEC devices which tells the TV whether devices can control it, whether it can control devices, both or neither. You can turn the function off in your TV advanced settings or HDMI settings. Likewise you could actually add Switch as a registered device and see if that helps first, and if not then turn off the setting entirely.

I haven't had any issues with it, the feature is working as it should. But if you're having issues then the best option is probably to disable the feature on the Switch itself. There's definitely an option for it. It's probably something along the lines of the TV being to quick to swap inputs. For example when the Switch comes out of a full sleep mode to check for or download updates.

I have the HDMI TV state (or whatever it's called. don't have the switch in front of me) disabled but it still does this. The TV even switches to the my AV receiver input randomly if the switch is connected to the receiver. There is no way to disable auto-switching of inputs on the TV. The TV will switch to the input if it detects a signal and that is what seems to be happening right now. Sigh...

I have this problem too. I have a Samsung Smart TV. HDMI-CEC is off on the TV and Power State matching is off on the Switch. If my Switch is in Sleep mode and i change inputs to, for example, watch a BLU-RAY my TV will randomly change to the Switch's input, even though the Switch will remain asleep.

Like many others who have noted the same issues i have several other devices that use HDMI-CEC correctly and with no issues. The fact that the Switch is changing my input while still asleep and with the relevant options disable certainly points to a issue with the Switch, or at the very least with the relationship between the Switch and some common televisions.

My current work around is to undoc my Switch when its not in use.
