I'm not sure about this but I love this kind of leak

IF it's real, it's a very very early model. IF it's fake it's been done and posted at the right time to cause a stir in the community.

If I were Nintendo I'd say something before everyone starts hating on something they don't understand or something that could not even be real

Here's a chat where the guy who apparently posted it is talking about it and answering a few questions from readers

It looks to much like the patent. So it is probably false. And reading that reddit thread only reinforms my BS sensor.

No, it's fake.

I'm not sure, and there's a lot of people saying it's real or like me undecided.

Let's get one thing straight, it certainly wouldn't surprise me if this was it.

THE ONLY thing that tells me it may be fake is the risk this guy would take to keep a lot of people he doesn't even know happy?
If real I bet Nintendo could look at that controller and say "that is x's dev kit", Sue them now!

Agree, this looks too much like the patent to be legit. I don't know what's more difficult to believe though, that someone would go to such great lengths to make a fake controller, or that this is a real dev unit.

The guy also suggests it doesn't have any buttons, just rotary shoulder wheels. Yeah, totally fake.

@DjLewe78: fair point, I wasn't following quite so closely for the Wii U so hadn't seen those, though there are plenty of other patents which never got used.

The Wii U's controller was also leaked before release so it's not unheard of, if this is real then someone's in trouble.

I remember reading something about the design of the Wii U game pad and how long it took the get the right design so that it was comfortable to hold and sat in your hand right, There is nothing comfortable looking about the controller

What if those thumbsticks were removable, perhaps to be replaced by something else?

And the screen was curved a bit?

Suddenly it could become something that you could play with in your hands, or wear across your eyes as a visor...

I still believe the console has a controller with a screen. But I'm glad if this rumor is fake.

If Nintendo was aware of this this leak, and it had any credence, you would think Nintendo would take it down right away.

I don't think this is fake. I may be an absolute detective for thinking it but the more I look at it the more I like it.
I'm not buying that "ET" face in the screen either. I mean come on.
Also NX is supposed to be able to run UE4 so why wouldn't it be on the controller?
I do expect the guy who posted it hadsbeen fired already that's for sure

Lol, know they are saying it could be real again. They just need to announce the damn thing.

Especially since the PS4.5 rumor and Xbone1.5 rumors are leaking.

I really hope Nintendo isn't stupid enough to make the same mistake twice.

So long as the controller has a screen, it will cost significantly more than a standard controller. So long as that's the case, they will be limited in how powerful they can make the device.

And to put it simply, a touch screen on the controller doesn't inspire enough original gameplay ideas to justify the loss.

@Djlewe78 it could run UE4, but I highly doubt he captured the exact same point in the demo as a public screenshot

@iKhan: I think a lot of people are hinging on the idea of the controller having a screen because of the desire for it to be hybrid with the controller being the portable part of the system.

We know Nintendo is going to do some kind of gimmick with the system, it's a just a question of what that gimmick is.

And as I've said before, a hybrid is a prescription for catastrophic failure.

The only way I can see a hybrid not catastrophically failing is if the core console is a handheld, and the only "hybrid" aspect is optional.

It's still not going to be used much as a hybrid, but they have a solid handheld to fall back on.
