I don't see the point in this at all. As others have said, the whole point of the Switch is it can be a home console and a portable. Why make it portable-only? To make it a cheaper option for parents to buy their kids? But without detachable Joy-Cons, several games including Labo and 1-2-Switch, as well as the motion modes in games such as Arms, would be unplayable. These are the kinds of games and modes that appeal to a lot of kids, so a portable-only Switch would be a backwards step in my opinion.

Theoretically, the Switch Mini could still be shipped with a dock. And joy-cons can be made compatible via blue tooth. In any case, I view the Switch as Nintendo's true successor to the 3DS. And if I were being honest, the Switch feels like little more than an alpha hardware test platform.

How many different versions of the Gameboy did gamers get over the years? GBA? DS? 3DS?

Nintendo is going to iterate on the Switch as well, I'd almost bank on it.

Little tip: if you take the Switch out of the dock, it's already portable.

Haha! Yeah, it's getting ridiculous how far some people will stretch it in an effort to complain. We already got a console that appeals to many different groups, so how can anyone complain?

As I said, there's zero incentive for Nintendo to split their development again with an entirely new portable that isn't Switch compatible. But they will want to make something smaller to cover the niches lost as the 3DS dies. A smaller SKU of the Switch at some point is the logical next step.

Which is why I would love to see Nintendo release a new handheld — let's call it the Game Boy Revolution — that is its own system but with games that are compatible with the Switch.

... how is this any different from what I am talking about? It'd be like me talking about this new SKU they could make for 3DS that is literally what the 2DS is. To which you respond "nah, they should make a 3DS without the 3D and call it the Super Nintendo Nitro"
